Princess hasn't improved. She does nothing but lay in one place, she won't eat or drink anything, she's drooling, her breath is awful (a sign of failing), and she's very weak. All this despite lots of subcutaneous hydration and repeated failed attempts to force-feed her. :( I leave in about a half-hour for her vet appointment. She may not come back from it... I'll post after the appointment about what we decide, but I suspect either we're going to euthanize her or take her home and allow her to pass on her own depending on what the vet thinks. I guess there's a small chance she'll pull through, but at this point I doubt it. It's going to be very sad to say goodbye to her after all these years together, but knowing she has lived a long and happy life with me will help me through it. Maybe it's just because I'm in denial or haven't fully comprehended it yet, but to some small degree I'm at peace with the fact that she's probably going to pass soon.

It's tough, but I think I'll feel better once Princess's situation is resolved, even if we do have her euthanized. I hate seeing an individual that I love so much in such a bad state. I don't think she's suffering or in a lot of pain, but she certainly doesn't have much quality of life at all. She seems somewhat uncomfortable.

The injured chick didn't make it either. It was getting weaker and when I was giving it some water yesterday it went into seizures and passed away. The newborn chick is on its own for now, but I'm going to try to find it a foster mommy (maybe Minky or The Salula).

Hopefully after this, the streak of pet deaths and injuries will be over. I am so thankful for all of my healthy pets, they help cheer me up.
