Jul. 16th, 2010 02:27 amMy computer is being so annoying lately! :( I think it's beginning to get senile from overuse and overwork, as well as age. Poor thing is four years old, which is old for a laptop that gets as much use as this one does. Browsers keep freezing or randomly disappearing, and just all kinds of weird and irritating issues. I'm starting to look at new laptops, I guess I'll be thinking about a way to buy a new one while I'm at my family reunion. I need one fairly soon, I'm not sure I can tolerate a computer being this glitchy and dysfunctional.
The Salula is doing well! Her head looks terrible but she is eating a bunch and walking around like normal.
Still only three serama chicks Charming has hatched so far, but there's one more pipped and I checked all of them yesterday and they were all moving around and looking great, so there might be another five soon enough. Good thing Charming has it covered as far as incubating the eggs and caring for the young, because I'll be away for a few days. ;; Of course the petsitter will feed them and give them water, I just mean other than that.
It was really fun getting to hang out with Makayla after a nearly two week period of antisocial behavior on my part, haha. We went and got frozen yogurt and wandered the street fair and so on. Looking forward to working on AMVs when I get back from family reunion~
Speaking of the family reunion, I'm looking forward to it! I always hate leaving the pets because I can't help but worry about them, but other than that it'll be fun. :D I love and more-or-less get along with my extended family, even though I have my differences with them. Namely, one group of aunt, uncle, and cousins is extremely religious, and that can be difficult for me because it means I have to self-censor for the sake of keeping the peace. Not that it's that hard, they're not preachy or obnoxious, but they are devout and therefore have extremely different perspectives than I do, so sensitive subjects must be avoided. It's just interesting to come from the internet and my friends and my family, where I can say pretty much whatever the hell I want and discuss any sort of bizarre topic, to spending time with people where I have to watch what I say. I'm not complaining, as I said I genuinely do like spending time with them, it's just one of those things that I find odd and interesting in a way.
I have more interesting things to share (auction screenshots, a meme or two, links, other stuff), but unfortunately Firefox froze so I can't access the tabs of the things I was going to share so that'll have to wait until tomorrow I guess. ._____.

Date: 2010-07-16 09:44 am (UTC)I had no idea that you made AMVs. This is a bit of a random question, but do you know any beginner guides? I already own any music I would want to use, and I could probably figure out how to use a video editing program (learned Final Cut Pro for a class), but where in the world do I get high quality footage from? Is there a way to grab it off a DVD without ruining the DVD?
Have fun at the family reunion! I was four when I went to my last family reunion. I don't even remember it. And I tend to have the opposite problem. I come from a very conservative and religious family, so I'm used to censoring everything I say and avoiding topics that bring up conflict. When I'm genuinely passionate or angry about a confrontational subject, I think it comes off as half-hearted because of the way I speak/type.

Date: 2010-07-16 05:49 pm (UTC)I'm a beginner when it comes to make AMVs (I've only finished one so far and I'm working on another), but not at all a beginner when it comes to watching them, haha! My friends and I are kind of AMV enthusiasts--we've been watching pretty much all of the well-known AMVs since 2002 or something. 8D Yes, you can rip the footage from a DVD without any damage whatsoever! There are some good guides on here to get you started: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/
Thank you! Family reunions are nice for me, I've grown up having them pretty much every year so they're familiar and fun. :3 Ahh, that's too bad you come from such a conservative/religious family... I'm glad that my mom and dad are pretty liberal and laid-back, and we can talk about pretty much any topic without sparking much controversy. It must be irritating to have to censor yourself all the time, even if you're used to it. :(

Date: 2010-07-16 04:50 pm (UTC)I don't know if you've got something in mind already, but I found Notebookreview forums to be really helpful when I was looking to buy my laptop. Lots of people there know exactly what they're talking about, and can help you pick out the right computer and options for your price range and usage preferences. They also generally have good links to coupons/discounts.
Glad to hear The Salula is doing better!

Date: 2010-07-16 05:55 pm (UTC)Oh, thank you for the review site! :) That's very helpful! I'm pretty sure I'm going to get another Toshiba Satellite because this one has been extremely good to me, but it's much better to look at all my options and all the reviews before I make any decisions.
Yes, I am too! She's pecking around and acting more-or-less normal even though the poor bird looks awful. She doesn't seem to be in much pain, so hopefully the wounds will heal given time and maybe if she's lucky she'll even grow back some feathers on her head (though I doubt that--the feather shafts were likely damaged).
Also, just wanted to say thank you for all the comments you leave! I don't always get a chance to reply to your entries, but I always read them, and I think you're a very cool and interesting person. 8D

Aw, thank you! :3 I'm glad you think so (and of course I think you are too!)
