So. AX. WAS. ABSOLUTELY.
The mere presence of Yoko Kanno of course made it the best convention I've ever been to. Being in the same vicinity as Yoko Kanno = INSTANT BEST EVER! Easily the second best day of my life, only second because of the (also Yoko Kanno) Tanasonic concert, which was so epic I still can't comprehend it almost a year later. Even putting aside Yoko Kanno and the fact that I am absolutely fanatical about her and her being there makes everything perfect in my eyes, the convention was AWESOME.
Best parts:
- YOKO KANNO! And the rest of the concert was awesome, too! :D May'n and Megumi impress me so much live--they really are fantastic!
- Gurren-hen and Lagann-hen screening with Konishi panel and costume contest between. This was the best screening I've ever been to, hands-down! EPICCCCC! The audience screamed their way through nearly the entire movies, including "GIGA DRILL BREAKERRRRRR!" and "Row row fight the power!" and "俺を! 俺たちを! 誰だと思ってやがる?!" and singing along with Sorairo Days and all standing up pointing to the heavens. Absolutely incredible. Even though I've already seen both movies, the audience just made it the best possible screening. ♥ SO FUN! SO AMAZING! I'm still hoarse from screaming, haha.
- Konishi was dressed up as Kamina, and he was a lot of fun in both panels he participated in. What a great guy! I got to be in pictures with him with my Boota costume--which is what I brought it for!
- Got autographs from Kawamoto (who I've wanted to meet for forever, seeing as he is my favorite anime artist/character designer), Megumi, May'n, Konishi, and the three Higashi no Eden staff who were there. Pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! I would've liked to get the two Toradora seiyuu's autographs, but their line was crazy and I think they only did one session, so that did not happen.
- Wonderful cosplay this time! I spotted so many amazing and detailed and interesting costumes. I didn't take many pictures because I plan on combing the internet and taking other peoples' pictures (LOL), but I was very impressed with the variety and quality overall. :D
- Rooming with
ensuing and Nur was great! I think we make totally compatible roommates and we had a lot of fun talking and hanging out and so on. 8D I was so glad to spend more time with them at AX than I have at cons in the past!
- Got to wander around the dealer's room with
toggy on the last day! 'Twas fun!
- Super cheap boxsets in the dealer's room, yay!
- Not spending all my money in the dealer's room so I can spend the rest of my money on surfing Pikachu stuff, ahaha!
- Wonderful train ride back~
- Delicious overpriced boba was delicious
- More things that I can't remember off the top of my head~
Cons:
- Had to pay a lot more for our room because of the hotel's dumb policies. :<
- Missed both Pokémon gatherings! Oh well. :(
Overall, an absolutely wonderful and special trip for me. Now I'm tired but I'm just hanging around the next few days and resting, so that's okay. I'm exhausted but really, really happy. ♥
I am so thankful for how amazing my life is. Even though I have my lows and struggles like everyone else, I have had quite a large number of experiences that are incredibly special or lucky or just downright unbelieveable--things I never thought I would accomplish or feel. I am so thankful to have had these experiences, and to have the life that I have.

Date: 2010-07-06 03:47 am (UTC)IT WAS SOOOO MUCH FUN ROOMING WITH YOU! Now I want to room with you and Nur at every convention! We just work so well together...we all tend to get up around the same time, go to bed at around the same time, we all bring food, we don't drop out, and it's just so fun to talk and laugh and have a grand ol' time. 8D I would be more than happy to room with you at any con~ You are one of the few people I've met where I feel like I never run out of things to talk about with you, and I'm totally comfortable. :D
AHHHH THANK YOU FOR LINKING ME TO THOSE! I-I didn't know Konishi was that close, ahhhhhhhh! The Boota luck strikes again. *_____* Now I have pictures of it with GAINAX animation staff, the director and character designer, Shokotan, and Konishi!
Anyway, many thanks to you and Nur for making my con all that much more awesome. ♥ I don't know what I would've done without you guys, and it was just so great spending time with you both.
