Gotta post Gen V impressions! Even though I'm studying for my Art History final, it's my duty as a Pokémon fan!

My immediate response was "meh" on the starters, but given a mere couple of minutes to slow down and actually look at them, they already started growing on me! Fire piggy is my favorite--he's sooo cute and enthusiastic-looking! I want a plush of him. ;A; Kind of disappointed that the grass starter is another lizard-y thing, as I was really hoping for a bird, but I do like his eyes and his design is actually rather cool. The otter I'm torn on--on one hand "OTTERRRR!" and he is kinda cute, and on the other hand I really don't like his color scheme and he's sort of derpy. Still, overall I like them all (I think I like them better than the Sinnoh starters, actually) and I think they'll continue to grow on me. I'm so curious about their evolutions now! :D I am unable to rank them in order of favorites--I like them about equally with the piggy just a little ahead of the other two.

I can't see myself wildly collecting any of them, but that's probably for the best seeing as starters get so much merch and I already collect one starter (Chikorita). I would maybe like a plush or a few of each, and if they get 1/1 plush of course I'll be all over that! Their evolutions we'll have to see--depending on how the otter's evolutions look, that's a possibility.

As for trainers, the boy is ADORABLE. Countdown to me creepily saving fanart of him and likely pairing him with someone in 3...2...1. XDDD The girl is cute, too, though her hair seems a little out of control, hahaha.

Anyway, I'm excited and feel sorry for people who are all skeptical and unhappy. Don't worry, there are plenty of other Pokémon still to be released! I for one can't wait to see them all. *A*

It's kind of funny and kind of sad how skeptical the Pokémon fandom can be (we're all so nostalgic, haha), but generally the whining goes away after a little while.

I always choose the grass type starter, but I really like the water type this time around. The piggy looks like it should be part ground type too, in my opinion.

I'm thinking the water starter is going to have some cute/awesome evolutions, which is what I'm hoping! I'll probably go with fire piggy, but I usually get multiple games (and there are generally three games per generation) soooo I'll probably get to start with all three. :D

I think they're really fresh looking, and I like the change. I'm always partial to the grass starters--and the only thing I was hoping for was for this grass starter to have the eyes that it does, so I'm satisfied. xD; I can't criticize, since, well, it's Pokemon, as well as someone's artwork and ideas, which I want to be respectful to. /shot

Me too! I think they're cute and rather interesting. :) I love the grass starter's eyes, too! And as for my thoughts as far as criticizing them, Pokémon makes me way too happy for me to get all bitter and upset about it. It's too fun for that!

Yep, I'll probably have those for sale whenever they arrive!

I find the otter to be super-derpy, which is a bummer because otters are awesome and water/ice types are my favorite ;_; Personally I was pulling for a dolphin--hopefully there will be some sort of dolphin Poke in this generation!

However, I love the fire piggy!! One of my other LJ friends said that it kind of looks like a baby tapir, so I was instantly like "♥_♥" because baby tapirs? One of the cutest animal babies, up there with baby seals, lol~ Idk if I'll collect any of them, but I definitely want a plush or two of Baby Tapir~

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'll sell Raichu, but we'll see! I might take offers on it. And I'm probably keeping Lapras because I collect Lapras, but you're welcome to Slowpoke if you'd like him!

I would love the Slowpoke! I doubt I will start collecting him because of the surprising amount of competition for him, but he's one of my main buddies in Heart Gold (and the "SlowpokeTail" quest was so sad!! i'm glad they grow back ;~;), so I would love the little keychain ♥ Just let me know the total to 32828 when you're ready to ship~ :D and thanks a lot!!

I don't think not liking the starters makes me a "whiner" or someone to pity... :/ Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, and not everybody has to like them! It's not a big deal.

Personally, I'm more excited to see final evolutions for them, since that's usually what you drag around with you for the longest. And sometimes pokeman starters do a total turnaround from the first form to final!

Nah, it just makes me sad to see half the fandom moaning about it like it means Gen V is going to be fail. I don't think everyone has to like them, it just makes me sad when the fandom acts so negative about it.

I'm excited to see the final evolutions, too! And the middles--I often like the middle forms.

The water type reminds me a bit of a snowman (crossed with otter), heheh.

I'm not sure how to feel about them overall yet -- I really need to see their evolutions before that. I tend to start off with the fire type so I'm hoping the pig (I thought it was a pig from the silhouette and yay, I'm right!) will have some badass evolutions. :D

Both the trainers look pretty awesome. I can't wait for these games to come out ahhhhhh a;sdlfj
