The wild turkey, who I have nicknamed "Lurkis" for no apparent reason, went to the vet today. It turns out his legs are fine, but he has lead shot in his gizzard, and lead poisoning is causing the weakness. Bad news because lead poisoning is a complex and unpleasant matter (that can cause a long and agonizing death if not treated), but he does certainly have a chance and we're going to try. Linda is coming over tomorrow to help me tube feed him metamucil, mineral oil, and peanut butter together, and also possibly give him some injections and medications. He's still very strong and doing well overall, so I'm hoping he'll make it and be releasable.

I haven't gotten a chance to take a picture because he freaks out when I see him. I'll get one if I can. Wrestling him is quite a task every time, haha.

Got my eggies in the mail today! Sooo many, OMG. I couldn't even fit them all in the incubator! I stuck a few under my broody hen, and the rest are going in the incubator tonight. I'll be so happy even if I only get a few chicks out of this hatch (though of course, the more the better)! :D I'm really happy to have a full incubator. It'll be fun!

Spent the rest of the day caring for chickens and whatnot. It was a nice, reasonably busy day~

I need to spend time with friends and do some fun things before spring break is over!

Lurkis is an awesome name. It sounds like the turkey would be like this creepy stalker turkey who lurks around in the shadows, eyes gleaming mysteriously in the dim light of the flickering street lamp..

I'M SORRY HE'S SICK THOUGH D:
