Sorry to post such a quick little blurb in its own entry, but this just made me smile so much!

I was having a little comment thread with lunarchik13 on my collection post, and we were saying we'd keep an eye out for items for each others' collections, and today she just randomly made me a custom Umbreon item for my collection! For free and everything, just completely out of the blue. I'm so touched, eee! ♥



Sweet little things like this make me so incredibly happy. ;; And they seem to happen so often in pkmncollectors. Part of why I adore that community to such ridiculous extents.

It's the wonderful little things in life that make it so awesome.

I've considered joining that community several times because I love Pokemon Stuff, but I don't know if I could handle the level of materialistic bragging. :|

The bragging isn't as bad as one would expect, actually--I mean, people are proud of their collections and show them off, but everyone is friendly and kind in general.

The community is SUPER active, though, as a warning! It kills my f-list. x___x;

You could always go through the posts and see if it works for you before joining~

Maybe I'll join, then. At the least, the pokemon I love just don't have much merchandise in general, so I won't have to feel jealous of a lot of people, haha. (where is the snorlax/dustox love, srsly)

I actually used to own a TOOOONN of Pokemon stuff, (only about 1/2 as much as you have, but even then that's a lot) but when my parents disowned me they threw it all out and now I just have the few things that I originally brought with me to college. :( I haven't felt up to collecting stuff again because I hate the thought of having to buy things for jacked up prices now that I used to own, or not being able to find things I used to have.

Yeah, one would expect the community to be sort of a flaunting of "I HAVE SOOO MUCH RARE STUFF BECAUSE I HAVE SOOO MUCH MONEY" (and that undercurrent shows up...very rarely), but it's more of a "I really love this Pokémon, so I've been trying to gather the items of it!" And if you're more interested in less popular Pokémon, it really shouldn't be a problem. :D It's only when you get into the Eevee and evolutions collecting that things can sometimes get a tiny bit unpleasant because it's so competitive and therefore drama can occasionally erupt. Even then, though, everyone's usually pretty friendly. And if you find the community too materialistic or ridiculous or whatever, of course you can always just defriend it.

Oh man--that's awful that your parents threw it out. :( I would be so upset, seriously. I've found generally if you wait around and are careful about things (and I know you're not the sort to be all "IMPULSE BUYYY" about everything), you can find most items for fairly cheap. Even the rarest items pop up from time-to-time. I can understand how that would be discouraging, though--I suspect I'd feel similar if someone threw out my stuff.
