Nov. 27th, 2008 01:18 amHappy Thanksgiving, f-list! I appreciate the concept of Thanksgiving and of being thankful for things, but not so much how it is celebrated. Nonetheless, I hope you all have a good one and get to see the people you love. I'm certainly thankful for all of you. Thank you for being good friends to me for however long I have known you! ♥
We went down to Davis today (er, technically yesterday now) to have sort of a pre-Thanksgiving with some of my mom's side of the family, which was nice. :D My mom is working tomorrow and we're going down to San Francisco with dad to see my dad's side of the family, so it was good to see my grandma and aunt and cousins from my mom's side for a few hours, as well as meeting my cousin's boyfriend.
My mom and brother were being weird in the car on the way back about how strong my beliefs are on the relationship between animals and humanity, mostly, but also my views on humanity in general. :/ I was going to make a post about how frustrating it can be when your morals are considerably different than the rest of society's, but I think I'll pass on that right now. I know if I do I'll just go into a big spiel on humanity's treatment of animals and other people and then I'll never shut up and work myself in an angry, sad, and frustrated state (which won't accomplish anything). And I should be working on my novel anyway.
On a much more amusing note, I wrote this...special...sentence in my novel very late last night when I was exhausted and trying to get my 2000 words done:
"When he didn't respond after her few timorous calls of his name, she reached out, her slender fingers stretching out towards him like cannibalistic spiders might reach out toward a larger and scarier member of their species, and finally shook his shoulder."
WHAT? No, seriously... WHAAAAT? Where did that come from? Ahahaha. I think that makes my first true NaNo-ism this year, though of course I'm sure I'll discover more gems when I get to reread what I've written when December starts.
