GO SPEED RACER
May. 15th, 2008 01:58 pmYesterday was a big cosplay work day for my friends and I, and today looks to be in the same spirit. I really need to go to Fabric Boutique soon and work on the fur aspects of my costumes, though. Argh, hopefully I can do that tomorrow and all weekend, and a bunch of next week. So much work to do! D:
After a long day of working on costumes, Nicole, Nolan, Aubrey, Ryan, and I went and saw Speed Racer last night. I know the critics (and a lot of other people) didn't care for it, but I thought it was a lot of fun and SO SHINY OMG. Probably the shiniest, most colorful movie I've ever seen. It was a simple story and more than a little ridiculous, but from the little I know about Speed Racer, that's how the story is meant to be and the movie did a good job keeping close to that spirit. I enjoyed how anime-styled the camera work, transitions, and many of the effects were. During the whole thing, my friends and I kept pointing out all the effects and moments that were distinctly anime. Anyway, I enjoyed it. It made for great eye candy and entertainment, and it made me smile.
Today I'm baking my clay Densuke nose and lock, and waiting for my turkeys to get here. I'm getting some baby wild turkeys that have splayed legs. They're going to need to go to the vet, but I'm hoping they'll be able to recover and be all right.
Nicole, KK, and probably Aubrey are coming over at some point today to work on cosplay again. *Flails* Really, really, really need to get working.
