Wow, today was a lot of fun. Yesterday mom was basically saying she didn't want to go to the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival, but for some unknown reason she changed her mind at about 7:30 this morning.

I missed out on the competition part of the parade (unfortunate, as a Totoro and Catbus won and I possibly could have joint-won with them and gotten to ride on the float) because we left too late, but the drive went pretty fast and we pulled up to the Civic Center right at noon. Almost as soon as I got out of the car, I spotted [livejournal.com profile] xel_ko's fabulous bright purple pants/wig/everything and [livejournal.com profile] astrokittie's silver Akagi wig. I spent a lot of the day with them and one of their friends (I'm bad with names--sorry Kaiji cosplayer!), which was, of course, lots of fun. We Caramelldansen'd it up, got Junior Officer stickers from the police officers, and conspired to steal the police officers' go-carts, among other brilliant things.

The parade itself was lots of fun. I couldn't see very well out of my Teto head's eyes, so I basically just followed [livejournal.com profile] xel_ko's wig the entire time and hoped I wouldn't fall and die or crash into someone. Luckily, I did manage to make it through the whole parade without a problem. Whenever we stopped for an extended period of time, I'd dance around randomly just...because I can, haha. I couldn't really see the audience so I have no idea whether they appreciated it or not, but at least I tried.

We went to Kinokuniya after the parade ended and found a sunny place to sit. There, I randomly stripped out of my costume (yes, there were clothes underneath) and began carrying it everywhere because I had nowhere to put it. Aubrey met us there, and we traveled around for a bit until everyone except Aubrey and I decided to go get some food. I don't feel like covering the rest of the day because I'm tiiiired, but it involved meeting up with a great many of my other convention friends, waiting for my mom a lot, and seeing [livejournal.com profile] toggy just before I had to leave (feel better soon, [livejournal.com profile] toggy!). And crepes. Mmmm, crepes. ♥

Also, I got the Dennou Coil artbook--finally! Augh, it's so lovely. It's got tons of illustrations, some storyboards and key animation stuff, background art, and, my personal favorite, character designs. I just did a quick look through it, as by the time I got to the character designs I was a bit overwhelmed with how many details that series has. I only wish I could read the interviews with the staff, as they look very interesting and I love hearing about the animation process and various other insights into the story/characters/etc. Anyway, it's a really nice artbook.

The drive home was peaceful and uneventful, and I was rather close to falling asleep more or less the whole time due to the combination of all the walking I did and the fact that I didn't get much sleep last night.

To talk about things backwards, last night was my Grandma's eighty-fifth birthday! We went down to Davis to celebrate, though I must admit I definitely wasn't in the mood to celebrate. (I had just watched a documentary called Earthlings that made me feel ill, angry, and depressed; I'll most likely talk about this in the near future, though I don't want to drag myself down again when I'm happy--so I'll probably wait a little bit to bring it up again.) Nonetheless, dinner was fairly good, cake was tasty, and overall it was pretty nice. I just was in bad spirits. It's hard not to be awfully bitter towards humanity and completely sickened after watching Earthlings.

I think it's going to be kind of a busy week, so I may not be commenting much. I haven't had time to sleep as much as I like to usually, and when I'm tired I get really apathetic and bad about commenting. Also, I have a sales post to make (probably mid-week or thereabouts), things to ship out (ASAP), a paper to write, a speech to write and a powerpoint, a wildlife rehab class I'm partly teaching next weekend to prepare for, and I think I'm having a cosplay work party next Friday. And I'm possibly going to Aubrey's party Saturday night after the bird class. Not to mention all of my classes, going back and forth to/from Rocklin, and...all that.

Too much to think about!
