Um...life in general?
Aug. 22nd, 2005 05:28 pmWOOHOO, 5:28 post!
Ack, I’m a terrible person. Not writing in my LiveJournal for two whole days. And it was even the weekend! This is inconceivable!
Both days, I was pretty busy…so, um, yeah. So you all know, I’m typing these excuses up more for me than for you. So I don’t go through my LiveJournal and freak out when two whole days are gone. I’m just that kind of person, you understand.
On Saturday, I woke up (late) and Mom was working dayshift (meaning she works from 7 AM to 7 PM--she’s a nurse), so Ryan was all upset because he was bored. Well, I managed to pacify him with some Naruto and Steamboy, which he really enjoyed. :3 By the time we finished both of these (and other stuff which I cannot remember), I had to go babysit for Ryan’s friend’s family.
Babysitting for Jake’s family:
Pros
- They’re great kids, and a lot of fun to be around.
- We played a lot of great games--Hide ‘n’ Seek, “Random Words” game, Uno, some random game called Don’t Break the Ice… And those were all wonderful.
- I got paid $30.
- They know Dragostea Din Tei by heart. Enough said.
- One of them proved her absolute insanity by running around in a robe with a plastic yellow baseball bat, claiming she was a “samurai.” This was with no prompting from me. XD (I didn’t even mention samurai!) Made me proud.
- For the most part, they were helpful and listened to whatever I said.
- Did I mention it was fun?
Cons
- Jake and his older brother Joe kept getting in rather volatile fights.
- Jake threw an egg on the kitchen floor intentionally and then proceeded to clean it up…with an entire paper towel roll. @_@
- Jake insisted on cussing constantly, which doesn’t bother me too much, but his parents don’t approve of it.
- Their dog Bob (who is not neutered) got out and was mating with a female dog who was hanging out in front of the house. Being an AnimalSave volunteer and not wanting to cause unwanted puppies, I was not happy about this and presumed the female wasn’t spayed (although I checked her stomach later, and it appears she is.)
- Cleaning up after those kids was tough work… I was watching five of them (although was of those five was my own little brother).
- Bob peed on the carpet twice and went after their cat Spunky a few times, too.
Needless to say, after six hours of babysitting and getting back at midnight, I didn’t feel I was in okay enough condition to write here. In fact, I got home, flopped on my bed, and fell asleep almost instantly.
Sunday, Nicole, Dylan, Ryan, Mom, and I went down to Roseville for shopping. Not a lot to say about that--I bought the first three volumes of Samurai Champloo, which I’m really glad I bought. I couldn’t find The Place Promised in Our Early Days, which was a little disappointing but not too bad. I’ll find it some time soon. Nicole and I lingered in the manga section at Barnes and Noble, and wandered around the Cost Plus Import Store just ‘cause we felt like it. We did find a card of an ostrich with its mouth open, which was endlessly exciting to us because of that whole conversation at the fangirl party. XD
Then…eh…to summarize, we got back to my house, called Cody, called KK, Cody came over, we went to pick KK up at Café Mekka, we did, Cody had to leave to play tennis with Thomas, he dropped us off at Nicole’s, and we…well, goofed around.
Nicole got shotgun in Cody’s car. *Puffs up angrily* That…is my seat! I *slept* in it!
We ate miso soup, were insanely emphatic, added a BUNCH to the sexiness list, and watched the first three episodes of Samurai Champloo.
So far, it is ♥! Note that I bolded that heart, because I’m really, really enjoying it. :3 Episode one was completely awesome (what wonderful action scenes! The animation is awesome. *_* Fuu is brilliant, too. XD), episode two was very moving and well-done (Aww…the fireflies… ;_; Poor guy…), and um…we didn’t watch all of three. XD The characters aren’t as much like the Cowboy Bebop characters as I thought they were, which is good. (Though Mugen still reminds me a little of Spike…) Seems like a wonderful, wonderful series, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. :D Must…buy…the rest!
Mom picked me up, we went to Ralph’s, and all that… Was very unhappy last night because we couldn’t find my alarm clock and I’m rather dependent on it, and as a result I didn’t get to bed until about 11:30.
Today…was tiring, but good.
I was sitting in Mr. Baxter’s class (the one I peer tutor for first period), and the guy next to me asked if he could change the music. I was listening to his choice of music, and I started thinking, “Wow, this totally sounds like an anime soundtrack…”
He was looking at my sketchbook, and he asked out of the blue, “Hey, do you watch Wolf’s Rain?” (because I had a pair of wolf eyes in the sketchbook), to which I responded enthusiastically. Thus, I found another anime fan. And it WAS anime music we were listening to! HA, I’m good! I don’t know what series it was from…I forgot to ask in my Wolf’s Rain obsessing. XD
I also got to use Mr. Baxter’s power sander on the drawing boards that had paint on them. Mr. Baxter made me promise I’d write about this in my journal, so here I am. XD
I was wearing one of my FMA shirts today, and (to my surprise) I saw three other people with FMA shirts! Two of those people I didn’t know, so this is remarkable. There was also someone with a Chii shirt that said “Persocom”, who I also didn’t know.
I’m serious when I say otaku are taking over the school. o_o
Second period was uneventful.
Third period…meh. Mr. Humphers made us run laps and everything. >< Our basketball game was a lot more productive than last time, though. I somehow ended up being a team captain (WTF?!), so I named our team the Ninjas. XD;; No one objected… Well, granted, two of my other teammates are otaku, so…yeah.
We lost to the team called Fish (XD), but we did reasonably okay considering our team… I actually made baskets. o_o Several of them, too. Definitely remarkable.
Lunch was very, very amusing. I got together a big group of people, and we sang the “If you’re fond of sand dunes, and salty air…” song loudly, annoyingly, and for almost the entire lunch period. We were driving everyone who didn’t know the song completely up the wall. Well, and Zoe almost disowned us, but…yeah. ^^;; It was so much fun!
Art was fun. Makayla and I started joking about True Naruto Style (which can be found at narutocentral.com under “Flash Videos”) and couldn’t stop laughing for a very long time. Especially over the whole thing with Naruto and Sasuke in there… XD With the whole class, we went out across the field, closer to Sierra College, and started painting blackberries. Makayla, Kathryn, and I were all lacking in watercolors, so we mooched off of Zoe. XD
I kept spilling my water all over me on the way down there, and Kathryn was acting completely insane while we were painting. It was hilarious. I think my blackberries actually turned out okay… This is good, because I’m incompetent at watercolors.
We were all really hot by the time we were done. -_-
English was also quite amusing… We were split into groups, and told to make a skit based off of a situation we were given. Our solution to our situation (which was basically that two best friends are told that one of them can receive what they most covet, and they had to decide amongst themselves who would receive the thing), was that they should play Ro-Sham-Bo. Oh yes.
I was a little embarrassed because I said “fairy grandmother” instead of “fairy godmother”. I guess that’s pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things, though, né?
Makayla found someone to be our supervisor for the Anime Club! I’m so excited about it--I have to put a notice in the bulletin tomorrow. :3 I have all sorts ofnefarious plans for it this year. *Cackles*
I think I’ve gotten Makayla obsessed with SasuNaru, too. She was very, very excited about the prospect of us teaming up to create a SasuNaru AMV to this one song she has on one of her CDs. Ohhh yes. >D
Speaking of which, I just remembered a [depressing, as always] fanfic idea I got while waiting for Mom… Hmmm, must write that down.
I have to do my Econ homework… >.> Cody’s possibly going to come over tonight, so I’d better get it done so I can hang out with him.
