I can't think of anything to write about for my descriptive piece for Creative Writing. ._.;; How is it that describing things is my favorite part of writing, but the moment you tell me to describe something I can't do it? This is entirely unfair.

We just got back from Roseville. I actually managed to resist the temptation to watch "just one episode" (AKA ten or more) of Naruto, so I'm proud of myself. At least I know I have the self-control to fight off the temptations of good anime that I know I won't be able to stop watching if I start.

The Roseville trip was rather successful. First we went to Costco, which was full of free samples. Yum. ^_^ I ran around the store and tried all the non-meat items (which was only about half of the food). Mom bought Ryan the PS2 she's been promising him since Christmas. Now I can get the Cowboy Bebop game when it comes out. *_* The guy who was giving out some free samples of Italian ice cream of some sort noticed my Witch Hunter Robin shirt and told me he loves WHR, too. I love meeting fellow anime fans. ^^

Then we went to Borders, where I found the second volume of the Wolf's Rain manga and bought it immediately. I also read about half of Gravitation Vol. 9 in the time I was there.

While I was in the isle, a TON of anime fans came at different intervals. I was only there about a half hour, but I swear at least thirty other anime fans came and stood in the manga isle and talked to their friends. One girl was talking about how FLCL was "nonsensical crap that no one can understand", so, naturally, I had to defend it. I explained that there were many different levels to FLCL, and one simply cannot understand it with only one (or even two or three) viewings. She asked me if I could please explain it, but I told her the truth: You can't really summarize something like FLCL, and all the meanings and sensical ideas that can be derived from it if one dissects it.

So, that got us in a conversation. I was mentioning something about Anime Expo, and she said, "Oh! I was the AX Idol the year before last!"

Me: "Really?!" O_o
Her: "Yeah! It was awesome! I got to go to a convention in Tokyo for free and everything!"
Me: "Wow, that's so cool! I want to go to Japan someday..." ^_^
Her: "Hey, do you know Crispin Freeman?"
Me: "I sure do!"
Her: "He's one of my friends."

And blah blah blah for about ten minutes (you get the point). It was fun to talk to her, though.

Some other random person walked into the anime section with two or three friends. From what I heard of their conversation, they were looking for a manga for their friend, but one of the guys said, "Ohhh, but this is the thing about the person having sex with a wolf or something!"

That was a major "WTF?!" sort of moment. I have no idea what they were talking about, and I don't think I want to know.

After Borders, we went to Best Buy. I found Paranoia Agent Vol. 2 and Last Exile Vol. 6 & 7, but I didn't have the money. ;_; I have to save up for the Texas trip, so I have to be careful how I spend my money.

Then we went to FYE in the mall. This was mainly because I wanted to see if Gravitation was still on sale (for Hitchi). There were still a bunch of anime sales going on, but all of the Gravitation DVDs were gone. ;_; Sorry Hitchi. I'll keep an eye out for cheap Gravi, okay?

I did, however, buy the first Hellsing soundtrack (couldn't resist), and the first Pokémon movie soundtrack for $1.99 (due to a typo--they still gave it to me for that price, though). Not that I'm actually going to listen to the Pokémon: The First Movie English soundtrack all that much, but I insist on having all of my CDs back. I used to have all the English (and most of the Japanese) Pokémon soundtracks, now I'm down to the Japanese first movie OST, English first movie OST, and the Perfect Theme Collection. Wahhh. I want them back.

We listened to the Hellsing soundtrack on the way back. It was funny watching my Mom rock out to Hellsing music. XD She really was rocking out, too, and kept telling me that it was indeed good music, even if the show is about vampires (she doesn't like creepy things much). Very good purchase. I'm listening to it now.

I love my friends. I know, that's random, but I do. *Hugs*

I'd better be going. I need to remember to put an ad in The Union tomorrow for a seamstress to help me with my Kumagorou costume. I keep forgetting about doing that...

*Tries to think of ideas for Creative Writing*

I'm afraid I have to agree and say that I don't find a lot of meaning in FLCL ^^;

I love meeting random anime people, too! ^.^ What exactly is Costco, besides a wholesale-type store? There's only one that I know of around here and it's not that close, so I've never been there.

That's okay, don't worry about it. I went to my FYE and they only had vol 3 for $30. I was like "wth." XD I <3 the first Pokémon movie soundtrack. What was the typo?

I love you, too! *hugs*

My mom would so help you if you lived around here. :_: Good luck with that.

Ah, you have to watch it a whole bunch of times and have pretty abstract thought processes. And before you get to the deep, meaningful stuff, I guarantee you're going to be able to interpret it merely on a sexual level. That's the level just above the levels that start making a great amount of sense.

I may just have to make a short guide to the metaphors and ideas in FLCL sometime. XD

*Pat pat* There, there, Arcy. Just please don't share it with us. >_< I may have a *cough* slight *cough* obsession with the Wolf's Rain wolves, but it's not that kind of an obsession. I swear. *Holds up paw in a promise*

Costco's a big warehouse store that sells everything in bulk for really cheap. It's awesome. XD My parents are addicted to it.

My Dad says that you're deprived because you've never been to Costco. XD

You like the English Pokémon movie soundtrack? o_o No offense if you love it or something (I never, ever mean to offend you!), I just don't care for it, personally--it has nothing to do with Pokémon and is just a bunch of icky pop. Not that I don't adore J-pop, but I don't like the majority of American pop. I adore the Japanese Pokémon first movie soundtrack, though.

The typo was awesome--it was supposed to be $7.99 and I got it for $1.99. ^_^

Awww, I wish I lived nearby so your Mom could help... ;_;

"There were many different levels to FLCL, and one simply cannot understand it with only one (or even two or three) viewings." That day was well spent. how many times did we watch it... and in how many different ways?

"Never knows best..."

Heh heh.

You should definitely make a guide on it; I think a lot of people need clearing-up on this anime XD

I agree!

Well, let's see...

First we watched it dubbed, then in Japanese (subbed), then in Japanese without subs, then with the director's commentary, and then... I forget after that. We watched it a TON.

I'm considering doing that. It *is* awfully complex, though.
