WOOHOO! I love Christmas Break!

Yesterday, Nicole and I took off from Nicole's house with Shiela, Cody's mom, and we went to a kitty shelter to pick out a kitten. We got there, and it was the coolest shelter-type place I have ever seen. The kitties all had really comfy cages with nice kitty beds, and they were all allowed to come out of their cages and play whenever they wanted to. There were all sorts of toys and huge cat-scratching-post-trees and volunteers cuddling them and everything. It was so sweet. There were tons of kitties running around and playing, so you had to be careful where you walked.

Nicole and I had the hardest time choosing a kitty... However, the decision was made oh-so-slightly easier by the fact that Shiela was perfectly fine with us getting him TWO kittens! We finally settled on two adorable three-month-old kittens--a tiny, shy black one with long hair, and a short-haired tomboyish tabby/calico. You have no idea how cute they are.

Oh, this is funny, too. It was obviously fate, because while we were there Mr. Baggett (the choir teacher) and his wife showed up looking for a cat for their daughter. Nicole and I were both like, "Hi Mr. Baggett! Guess who the cats are for!"

It took him about one second to answer, "Cody, right?"

"YEP!"

So, Shiela filled out the adoption papers, the three of us paid the adoption fees ($70 each kitty, but it pays for shots and spaying and such, which is why it was so expensive @_@). Then we put them in carriers and went off to the pet store to grab them some toys and other cat-things. The little black one was mewing the whole time (she has the cutest little mew, like a bell), but the tabby just curled up and took it in stride.

Well, then we showed up at Cody's house. Shiela parked in front of their house and told us to go hide outside somewhere where Cody couldn't see us while she distracted him so we could get the kitties upstairs in his room. The problem was, we weren't quite sure when it was all-clear, so we kept trying to listen to what was going on in the house to determine where Cody was. Shiela got Cody to get the Christmas tree out from under the house, which would've bought us some time, except that we didn't know when he was gone, and by the time we realized, he was in the living room (which overlooks our necessary path).

Eventually, we chose a random time and started running upstairs with the cat carriers. Unfortunately, Cody heard the door open and came running towards us. And--this is the stupid part--I turned when I heard him show up and tripped on the stairs in front of him as I was running with the cat carrier. *Facepalm* XD XD XD Luckily they're carpeted stairs, so I was fine and able to scramble away before he saw the cat carrier in my hand. It was stupid of me, and kind of embarrassing, but hilarious. X3

So, Nicole went and forced him to watch TV downstairs while I arranged the kitties on my lap on his bed. So, she got him to come up finally, and he saw the kitties. It was SO GREAT! You should've seen the excited look on his face. He told us that we're the greatest friends ever several times (which we are XD) and we all started playing with the two kitties.

He named them Puss (the black one) and Boots (the tabby). Puss was a little scared at first and hid under his bed, but she came to eventually and became very affectionate. Boots was fine right off the bat and played with the toys we bought her quite happily. Both of the kittens got a kick out of looking at themselves in Cody's two mirrors in his room. Cody's family all came and loved the kittens, too.

We played with the kittens for hours. Boots eventually disappeared (Cody has a big house), but was no doubt fine, so Nicole, Cody, and I went downstairs with Puss and watched the animated version of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas for no apparent reason. Puss kept falling asleep either in my coat, on Cody's chest (though Cody was lying across Nicole and I ^^;;), or behind our heads on the couch.

After a while, Nicole and I decided to follow Cody to his three choir concerts that day. The first one was at a church and was relatively short. In the parking lot afterwards, Joey told us that we were his favorite choir groupies. We were happy about this for a second until we realized, "Joey! That's not even a compliment! We're the only choir groupies!" We talked in the parking lot for quite a while with Gretchen and Thomas and James and John and Lianna and other people. Then, we went off to the next choir concert.

This concert was at the Imaginarium, and it was on live TV. We got there too early, though, so we walked down to a smoothie place and got smoothies. Well, Nicole and Cody got smoothies, but I was broke from the kittens so I grabbed a [free] straw and mooched off of them. I'm usually the one being mooched off of, so they certainly didn't mind.

Then we got there and...ate more, looked at pictures from the Madrigal dinner, and talked to more members of the choir. They did an excellent job on the live broadcast, but Cody, Nicole, and I had to leave a little early because Cody had yet another concert.

This one was at another church. Nicole and I helped out with the rehearsals by applauding when it was appropriate and following Kirstin around annoyingly. This concert was fairly long (over an hour), and Nicole, Shiela, and I got the absolute front seats. ^_^ We win. It was a fun concert--they did a hilarious song called the "Fa La La La La Medley", if I'm recalling correctly. It was beautiful. After the concert, Nicole and I helped put the refreshments out and we started singing anime songs loudly and badly. It was fun, but Kirstin kept facepalming because she's so easily embarrassed. Nicole doesn't know nearly as many anime songs all the way through as I do (of course, very few people do ^^;;), so we kept singing the beginnings of the songs and nothing more.

Cody then took us to my Mom's house so we could grab a Photoshop disk (he wanted to give us a tutorial on how it works, because we're hopeless with it), but we ended up watching at least ten or so AMVs.

Cody drove us to my Dad's house, but felt he had to leave after that (it was abour 10 PM by that time). So much for the Photoshop tutorial... He explained he needed to go check on the kittens, though, and was forgiven. (Not like we were actually mad at him about it in the first place. ^^;;)

Nicole and I...errr...I forget what we did after that. I guess we just ate peanut butter toast and talked. I can't remember doing anything else. So, we went to sleep and woke up and today walked to Nicole's house. Nicole gave me a wolfy calendar (yay! ^^ One of the wolves looks SO MUCH like Kiba *_*), and then we sat around and talked about...nothing in particular, burned some CDs, and then I had to leave.

I cleaned the bird cage, and here I am.

Hope you guys are having a great Christmas break, too!

Oh so CUTE.

God help me if I ever get two kittens at the same time they're going to be named Edward and Alphonse regardless of gender. *plots*

I <3 KITTENS. *_*

Woah. I wish the animal shelter I sometimes help out with was as well-maintained as the one you went too. XD

I'm not on Christmas break until Wednesday at 1:33 P.M. ;_;

Kittens! ^.^ That sounds like the best. Is Sheila Cody's mom?

I was going to be a band groupie, but of course I always have something pre-planned before on the nights of their concerts. That's great, though.

Yes, Shiela is Cody's mom.

Being a groupie is fun. I think almost everyone in the choir knows us. That's pretty impressive--there are at least about two hundred people in all of our school's different choir groups.
