pacificpikachu: (Yoko Kanno -- Kira!)

Finally started feeling better yesterday and today, thank goodness. There's only so much I can take of sitting around feeling lightheaded and watching arbitrary TV before I get sick of loafing around, even when I'm not feeling well. As much as I hate feeling unwell, of course then I start thinking of ways I can use it as an excuse to evict my uterus, though unfortunately my boldness is mostly just inside my head and I'm far more meek outside of it. It's difficult to bring it up with doctors, who inevitably look at me like I've grown another head. I'm too easily intimidated to discuss it as boldly and decisively as I'd like. Sigh, someday!

Managed to get some more (half off, woohoo) MLP: FiM valentines as well as more photo printer paper and sticky things for putting up pictures practically everywhere. Moved my manga and artbooks, aside from the ones that have autographs in them, over to mom's house, too, where I have more access to them. Today I suddenly went crazy rearranging the garage and made a bunch of progress on that. Quite overdue, but it's nice having a clean-ish garage and even better going through all that stuff because then I feel like I'm on a treasure hunt. I'm easily amused, anything that remotely resembles a treasure hunt to me is instant win. Thrift stores, garage sales, rearranging things that haven't seen daylight in a long time, used bookstores, even searching through websites for some item or long-list picture or piece of data... The thrill of the hunt, you know?

On an arbitrary note, and yes, I am going to consult Google on this momentarily, but is there a site for somewhat in-depth (a few paragraphs or more) fandom-related essays/analyses/reflections? Metafandom, sort of, but could concern either the canon itself or the fandom or whatever. If there isn't, there should be. Something set up somewhat similar to FanFiction.Net, perhaps, but more discussion friendly. I was just thinking today about how I'd love to read peoples' thoughts on various series/characters/etc., and probably write my own, but I don't want to slog through blogs and things on series I don't care about or know about at all in order to find something of interest. Similar to the ship manifestos, but just about anything fandom-related, not necessarily just ships, and I'd rather it be more organized and focused, versus just a LiveJournal community. I'd be surprised if there isn't something like this, but perhaps not. If there isn't, it's something I'm hoping will exist in the future. I know the thought has my mind churning out ideas for how the site would be set up, as well as what I'd like to read and write.

As if fanfiction is not geeky enough as it is, now I also want to add just fandom-y essays to that... Hahaha. It all just seems intriguing, though, I've always loved fandom-related thoughts and reflections and analysis. I don't even mean just well-researched writing that is complex, but even just opinions with some thought and reasoning behind them. I don't know, I guess people will tell me just to Google what I'm looking for and leave it at that, or go to one of the million series-specific or just meta-fandom as a whole communities, but I guess I have more specific thoughts on this and how I think it should be for some reason. \(O___o)/

Speaking of fanfiction, I just finished my first one-shot for the first time in...probably at least six years? It's nothing special, about 3000 words and unremarkable, but now I'm stuck on whether I like the way I'm ending it or not so I'm torn about posting it. Time to go stare at it and reread the ending until I decide I can, indeed, post it. Ugh, perfectionism. Not like this is a deeply emotional thing or anything where it really matters, just silly fluff. I do have plenty of other one-shot ideas that I intend to write, though! Now let's just hope I actually write them instead of just thinking about writing them endlessly.

Never did finish that drawing I wanted to finish for V-day, either! I'll work at it at some point soon-ish. It doesn't need a lot more, just some simplistic digital coloring, but I haven't felt like working on it lately. I want to get back in the groove of writing and drawing more regularly, though. I'm getting closer as I get things in order, but not quite there yet. Within the last month or so, I did get some new mechanical pencils, a new sketchbook, and nifty erasers, though, so maybe that will spur me to drawing.

I downloaded a free program for DVD burning that I love, and I've been using it to burn favorite AMVs to DVD again. I used to do this years ago, but the programs then were glitchy and temperamental with all the different file types, so I got frustrated and stopped. I think this one seems great, though! The DVD I made as a test run did eventually glitch, but I suspect that has to do with burning it on a banged-up DVD-R because I strangely couldn't find any others at my dad's house.

Speaking of AMVs, Pencilhead justifiably won AMV of the Year! Check out this absolutely incredible, mind-blowing video if you haven't already:

http://youtu.be/-Bx0dEYiDYw

Download in HQ at AnimeMusicVideos.org, of course: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?vid_id=182441

Not going to embed because you need to watch it at best possible quality. :D If anyone ever wants AMV recs, I am the master of AMVs.

Also, this Maaya Sakamoto/Yoko Kanno live medley kills me with happiness and all emotions and things I can not even express:

I would write more about my love for both of them, but my thoughts lose all coherency rapidly. ♥

Off to download more AMVs, stare at my 'fic, and just generally geek out like usual. :D Well, and then going to bed soon because I have work tomorrow.

Will reply to comments sometime soon, too, sorry about that! I must confess that I haven't been neglecting the internet exactly, but I've been doing more off of it than on the last few days.
