Feb. 5th, 2011 10:13 pmYou know you're a real geek when you start writing down notes about Pokémon language-to-Japanese subtitles and the speech patterns revealed. Not that it's really helpful information for anything other than maybe fanfiction, but I'm the sort of odd person who finds it somewhat interesting. I've always liked finding out more nuances about how Pokémon think/talk/refer to themselves, etc.
I just watched Island of the Giant Pokémon in Japanese and reading the Pokémon language-to-Japanese subtitles, I found out these things:
* Pikachu uses "boku"
* Zenigame and Fushigidane both use "ore"
* No one else used personal pronouns. :(
* Hitokage referred to Zenigame as "Zenigame-kun"
* When trying to speak to the giant Kamex, Zenigame called him "aniki"! This especially amuses me because of course Zenigame was the one who had the Kamina-esque glasses.
