2009 in review!

pacificpikachu2009 was a great year for me. There were definitely ups and downs, but the ups were so high that they made up for the sometimes very difficult downs. I have a great feeling about 2010. I can't quite describe why, but I feel like a lot of wonderful things are just over the horizon, waiting for me.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Went out of the country, went to Japan, saw Yoko Kanno live (!!!), visited an animation studio, went to the Pokémon Center, owned corgis, got my driver's license, saved and released a turkey vulture, probably plenty of other things I can't remember.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Surprisingly, I did keep some of my resolutions. More than I expected to! I'll probably make a few that are just simple goals.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
She's not close to me any more, but my friend Rosie had a baby. D: D: D:
One of my seramas is sitting on eggs, I'm hoping that results in chicks.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My aunt Nancy, my dog Tia, my rooster Yamikarasu, my chickens Fawkes, Cochin Bobochin, and Caramel, and all of my guinea pigs. ;;
5. What countries did you visit?
JAPAAAN! ♥
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
More of a social life? Also, less death. Other than that, 2009 was awesome. :D
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
YOKO KANNO CONCERT, YESSSS. ♥ Bringing Hooch home, and then Honey's whole crazy story. Also, the deaths of Tia and aunt Nancy...
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Actually making it to Japan and the Yoko Kanno concert! Of course I didn't do it alone (family helped some), but I'm still proud that it happened. ♥ Also, getting the corgis!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Having to drop Chemistry again was a serious blow to my self-esteem. .___. I still feel crummy about that.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was sick while I was in Japan, unfortunately. Other than that, I was fairly healthy this year.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
YOKO KANNO TICKET AND CORGIS!
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Er, I don't know.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Stupid man who took Honey and the shelter staff allowing him to, and then he returned her. >< Thanks to him we got Hooch, too, but it still pisses me off that he did that.
Also, the human species as a whole, but it's not as though that's anything new.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Japan, conventions, and Pokémon toys.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
YOKO KANNO, JAPAN, POKEMON (as always), GAINAX, GURREN LAGANN, AND CORGIIIIS!
16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2009?
So many songs. Anything played during the Yoko Kanno concert, and Namida no Tane, Egao no Hana. Probably others. I listen to a ton of music.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier!
ii. thinner or fatter? The same, I think.
iii. richer or poorer? About the same...?
I think, overall, I'm more self-assured and confident than I was last year. I feel like I can do nearly anything if I put my mind to it, and I've really embraced what I love and decided to fully pursue and enjoy those things regardless of what anyone thinks. I've also become more and more firmly planted in my morals and put a lot of thought into them.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spending time with friends, more art, more writing, watching more anime.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Random pointless computer time.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Went to Davis to visit mom's side of the family on Christmas Eve. Christmas itself I spent sitting at home and wishing dad wanted to go down to the Bay Area like we usually do. :/
22. Did you fall in love in 2009?
With my corgis. ♥
23. How many one-night stands?
Only 72,843.1837373 this year! It's an improvement.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
The same ones that are usually my favorites. ^^; I didn't watch much TV this year, to be honest! I watched a lot of Whale Wars and Dr. G, Medical Examiner, I think those are the only new things if I'm recalling correctly. .___.;
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
26. What was the best new book you read?
Oh man, I don't know. I can't even remember what I read to begin with!
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Sleepthief, I suppose!
28. What did you want and get?
Trip to Japan, Yoko Kanno concert, corgis, incubator (haven't gotten it yet, but I will!), lots of Pokémon items, to go to the cons I love, seramas.
29. What did you want and not get?
More time with friends, any of my Pokécollecting grail items~
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Lagann-hen, and Where the Wild Things Are.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting to spend more time with my friends.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
The same as always...? XD

Who says anything kept me sane?
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
FFF YOKO KANNO. (LOL.)
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Animal rights, as always. And I get really stirred about that...
37. Who did you miss?
My friends who moved away and who I rarely get to see, my aunt Nancy, all my animals who passed away.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I don't believe I really met anyone new in real life, and I can't remember who I friended this year as far as online friends go, so I'm just not going to answer this.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
If you earnestly want something and do everything you can to try and get it, you may just be able to get it. And there's no shame in truly loving something, no matter how silly it is.

Um... I can't think of one off the top of my head. ^^;
* Go back to Japan!
* Get a job, preferably at a veterinary clinic.
* Hunt down my Pokémon grails. (Wishful thinking! But I have a weird feeling that at least one of them is going to be mine this year. :O)
* Finish goddamn General Chemistry once and for all. Possibly transfer to Davis in the fall?
