Friend-Bonding
Oct. 20th, 2004 04:52 pmWell, the Tahoe trip was a no-go. ;_;
Nicole, Cody, Makayla, and I all went over to my Mom's house via my Dad's car, and once we arrived there, we concluded that the weather was definitely not participating, and we decided to delay the trip for a day. Well, that was okay with us-- we all piled on to my couch and watched Space Balls, and then Matrix Revolutions. Space Balls was funny, and not nearly as stupid as I was anticipating it was going to be, and Matrix Revolutions was cool, but not as philosophical as I was hoping it would be. It seemed so complex that it was hard to enjoy the beauty of its message--and to me, at least, it seems like the primary point of a story is to deliver its message in a way that is entertaining and ultimately effective. Matrix Revolutions was a too convoluted and action-oriented to do that in a way I could appreciate. That's just my take, though. ^^;; And just so you know, I did understand it fairly well; I just didn't really like how the story unfolded is all. Too much mecha-fighting for me, I suppose.
After we finished those movies, we went outside into the cold, dark, wet night and meandered around for a while, discussing this-or-that and having friendly debates with Cody over various things. We didn't get much sleep, as we were up 'til probably two in the morning watching AMVs and playing "Guilty Confessions", which is basically just telling your friends all the horrible and weird things you've done in your life, and what is said in the room stays in the room. My friends and I have so much trust in each other, we can basically tell anything, so we seem to have a never-ending supply of things to admit to.
Well, the next day, we intended on going to Tahoe again, but there was one major problem--lack of seats. While Cody can drive, he was understandably uncomfortable with driving over Donner Pass in a snowstorm. We definitely, definitely didn't want to risk an accident, so we played with some other options. We tried the idea of squishing us all into the backseat. While we fit, and would've been fairly comfortable like that, the legality of the matter stopped us. Also, it was a complex setup, with six people, tons of luggage, and two dogs smooshed into a five-person Subaru. Next, we considered renting a van, however it was expensive even when my friends chipped in a lot of money, so that was discarded. Cody tried several times to convince us to go without him, but we had the attitude of "No one gets left behind!" so that was shot down before it could even be entertained.
Oh, a few random things that I forgot to mention before and are hard to incorporate now. Cody brought me a pretty wolf picture that he bought at a yard sale. This made me immensely happy. ^^; We are officially obsessed with the "Wizard of Oz" Hellsing AMV and the Weird Al song "That's Your Horoscope for Today." We sang both songs countless times throughout the four-day span. Cody brought the shirt that looks like Ayato's, and Nicole and I carried the shirt everywhere.
So, the whole Tahoe idea was scrapped--except that Cody's mom, who was getting back from Europe that night--also owns a townhouse in Tahoe. We thought maybe she could take us to Tahoe, as a last-ditch effort. Mom brought us all over to Cody's house to hang out until we figured out what the plans were.
While there, we had a great time. The first thing we did was sit around in the hot tub for a while. After that, we dried off and watched Sleepy Hollow, which was very entertaining to watch, especially with friends, but definitely quite far from scary. ^^ We decided that the moral to the story was "Drugs are bad." Don't ask how we came to this conclusion. We don't know either. Again, as is the tradition, this was watched all smooshed together on the couch.
Seeing as I can't remember the rest of the events that transpired in Cody's house in order, I'll just spout them randomly.
Makayla and Cody cooked for us [excellently, too], because Nicole and I are incompetent. We went in the outdoor hot tub again during a big huge storm and spent the entire time talking about Tatsuha. We took countless anime personality quizzes online for Mew-knows-how-many-hours. Mainly Gravitation-related ones. We visited http://www.nittlegrasper.com/ (one of my favorite websites, BTW) just for the the entrance image ("Click Here" XP) and Tatsuha's Temple of Luv a bunch of times (which is such an incredibly disturbing site, but so hilarious it's worth the disturbance). We watched Cody play video games on his computer. We all glomped Cody more times than can be healthy, and for completely strange reasons. We walked down to Café Mekka and Makayla treated us to coconut slushies. ^_^ Nicole and I slept on Cody's waterbed, and then plotted against him when we woke up in the morning. We were both going to crawl into his bed with him, just to be funny and weird and wake him up, but when we opened the door of his brother's room (which he had slept in, seeing as Nicole and I took his room, and Makayla took his sister's room) he was already awake. Darn it. So much for our lovely plan. -_-; Then we were going to do the same thing to Makayla, only to discover that she, too, was awake. >.<
We watched Gravitation episodes 7-10. Everyone, including Cody, went completely and totally fangirlish over Ryuichi's concert. Just as we were starting episode 9, Cody saw a brief flashback of Ryuichi's concert and absolutely insisted we must watch the concert again. And again. And again. And again. XP This caused much giggling and happiness. All four of us are now officially in love with Ryuichi Sakuma. And Cody is a pretty straight guy (though he sometimes pretends not to be, just to make Nicole and I happy), so... ^^;; Then Cody made the horrible mistake of finding a frilly shirt that looked a *little* like Ryuichi's and got chased around the house for a good fifteen minutes.
Eventually, we determined that Tahoe was, altogether, hopeless for the weekend. Cody had a choir class to go to yesterday evening, so my mom picked up Nicole, Makayla, and I and we went off to Roseville. We listened to a bunch of Pocket Monsters music in the car, and I cracked myself up by singing almost all of Hara-Hara Relay perfectly, until the very end when I lost it laughing. XP I also reaffirmed that I can indeed sing along to pretty much any and every Pocket Monsters song without screwing up so much as one word.
We went to the Galleria first. Makayla had a bunch of money, so she started buying stuff like crazy. At some point in the mall, we started to realize that we were acting remarkably like Gravitation characters. Seriously. Just like Gravitation characters. Makayla was acting eerily like Tohma and even bought two or three items of clothing that look exactly like his. We're talking cosplay-accurate. Nicole kept talking about shooting people and dragging me away from shiny things when I became to fascinated by them, so she was definitely turning into K-san. And me...well, I was being the perfect Ryuichi. Seriously. All I needed was a good singing voice and to turn male. All of this was completely unintentional, too. At one point, Makayla decided I was acting so much like Ryuichi that I needed a Kumagorou, so she started hunting for a pink bunny for me. Unfortunately, we didn't find any pink bunnies, but I'm sure we'll run into one eventually. I can't even describe how much we were acting like our respective characters, so I won't try. It was hilarious, though.
Then we went to Best Buy, but it was closed. ;_; This made me angry because I was planning on buying Wolf's Rain Vol. 3 and now I have to wait to get it. Barnes and Noble was our next destination, and Nicole and Makayla both bought some manga. I refrained because I need to save my money for Wolf's Rain Vol. 3 and Gravitation Vol. 4, but I did randomly decide that Nicole needed to buy Juvenile Orion, which I have never seen, read, and hardly heard about at all. I have no idea if it'll be even remotely good, but the cute chibi on the back influenced me. It told me that we must buy it. We must always listen to chibis, no matter what they say.
On the way back home, we were sleepy, so we listened to some mellow Maaya Sakamoto songs. Nicole and Makayla weren't originally supposed to spend the night, but they did anyway. ^^; They went home at about noon today, after eating breakfast and starting to watch Vampire Hunter D on the Action Movie Channel. Not Bloodlust. We had trouble taking it seriously, so we ended up turning it off in favor of AMVs.
Tia, our black lab foster dog, got run over by a motorcycle today. Luckily, she escaped with only some cuts on her feet and a scraped nose, but it's too bad she had to go chasing after it in the first place. >.< Mom bandaged her up and now she's wearing a cone, which she uses to crash into absolutely everything. Speaking of Tia, I have to got walk her now. Good night!
(Note: Started this entry in the early evening, left for a long while, and then finished it. Hence why it's 7 PM when I'm leaving.)
