*Squee* Deep Joy
Apr. 3rd, 2005 10:58 pmAgain, another anime-filled day.
This morning, I woke up, took a shower, and, just out of curiosity, popped in disk 6 (out of 7) of Last Exile.
Well, what do you know, I ended up watching the whole ending.
And...
I cried.
Now, this is a big deal with me, because I don't cry in virtually anything. I adore sad series, so I seek them out, but so far I've only shed actual tears over Wolf's Rain and Cowboy Bebop. Even then, Wolf's Rain only got a tear or two, and Cowboy Bebop it was a delayed reaction (I cried about an hour after I watched it).
As I was watching the last six episodes, it was beautiful as usual, but I was a little concerned because as the end loomed closer, the pace didn't seem to be going up all that much. It felt like just another normal episode of Last Exile, and it felt that way for a long, long time. I started getting worried it wouldn't resolve itself.
...Boy, was I wrong.
I started getting teary when Claus and Lavie found their fathers' vanship inside of Exile , swiped at my eyes for a while, trying to convince myself there was no reason at all to cry, regained my composure...and started totally crying when they started showing the beautiful, happy new world and Over the Sky ~ Angel Feather Remix started playing. I couldn't help it. I have no idea why I was crying...I guess just because it was so beautiful, and so happy. It was a weird and enlightening experience. Like I said, I don't cry for just about anything... I'm tough like that. There was just something so beautiful and so moving about it that I actually had some tears running down my face.
Just as the credits started, Ryan walked in the door and was shocked that I was crying over something.
Last Exile is undoubtedly one of my absolute favorite anime, only defeated by Pokémon, Wolf's Rain, and Cowboy Bebop (and probably tying with RahXephon).
I was shaking for a while, but once that stopped I called Makayla (who had already seen the ending and also cried) and we talked about it for a long time. After talking on the phone to Nicole and Cody, too, Makayla ended up coming over, and we spent the whole rest of the day watching Naruto/making spaghetti/watching a few AMVs in between watching Naruto episodes.
We watched episodes 84-96, which was only two episodes past what I had seen, but a lot of stuff happened in those two episodes. o_o Wow, Naruto is such a great series... Episode...95, I think it was, was very moving and had so many close calls. I like Tsunade--she's a great character. I really like Shizune, too (not to mention Tonton). And I had no idea Kabuto was so strong... That scalpel attack is frightening. o_o Naruto's sooooo adorable (but we all knew that). I kind of miss Sasuke, though. He'll be back in the show soon enough, though, or so it seems.
We gave Makayla a ride home (while listening to Naruto opening and ending themes), and then I forced Mom to watch AMVs with me for a while. She likes them, though she always wishes she knew what was going on in the series. I try to explain it, but my explanations are complex and long-winded, so she can't really follow what I'm talking about in half-Japanese. ^^;;
It was haling today, which is really weird because the weather yesterday was absolutely perfect spring weather. It was sudden, but cool.
Dad's getting a new computer any day! I'm excited. It supposedly is great for watching media on, and it has a 19" flat screen. *_* He even bought a nice new computer chair to go along with it. XD
I've been so happy today! ^_^ *Squeaks* I <3ed Last Exile and the addition episodes of Naruto I watched.
Just a brief apology-- I'm sorry to all my online friends if I've been neglecting you a little. My life is kind of busy, so if I don't keep up to date on your journals and such (and on any forums like BMGf or the Wolf's Rain LiveJournal community), it's because I've been spending a lot of time watching anime, being with my friends, doing chores, and all those other things I do. Hopefully, it'll eventually slow down to the point that I'll have more time. ^^;; Love you all!
