It's late and I still need to be packaging things (I guess I just have to do it tomorrow--I got a bit carried away and started doing fully cross-hatch shaded pictures on each package), but I want to write anyway. :D

I went to bed at 3:30 AM last night and woke up at 6 AM because the light coming in through the blinds was a strange yellow color and I guess somehow I sensed this despite my eyes being closed. When I opened them, I realized it was really smoky outside and the whole house smelled like smoke because most of the windows were open. On the amount of sleep I had had and the fact that I wasn't entirely awake, this was obviously a sign that there was a fire in our immediate area, the house was going to burn down, I was going to die of smoke inhalation, all my rehab birds would die, etc., so I went and woke my dad up. He was a lot more rational about it, hahaha, and went to listen to the radio and look online. Turns out there's a bunch of fires going on, but none near us. I closed all the windows to shut the smoke out, went back to sleep, and when I woke up I realized it really wasn't that big of a deal at all. XD

That said, the smoke was certainly not pleasant, and everything felt surreal today as a result of it--as though I was on another planet. It's amazing how something as simple as smoke can affect my view of my surroundings that much.

I was on call today and I'll be on call again on Thursday. Thankfully I only got two calls. One lady brought me the bird but it was dying. I held it in my hands quietly to keep it warm so it could die peacefully. The second came in and seems to be fairly healthy. The guy who dropped it off was really nice; he donated $100 to the organization! He brought his son (probably around ten years old), too, and I showed his son the robins because I was putting the new bird (a mystery bird) in with them. He loved them!

The new bird isn't gaping for me so I have to force-feed it, but it's otherwise doing pretty well. I'm giving it antibiotics just as a precaution. All the other birds (two robins, two cowbirds, a grosbeak, and a towhee--I have seven birds right now) are doing well, too--the cowbirds and towhee are going to the flight cage today or Friday. The grosbeak needs to go to the vet to get his wing checked out, but I'm optimistic about him otherwise. I'm probably getting another robin tomorrow. I'm hoping Thursday isn't a busy day because any birds I take in have to go off to other people on Monday or Tuesday at the very latest.

I think that's about all I wanted to say.

Things to do tomorrow:

- Cancel Figueroa hotel room (because [livejournal.com profile] centimetre and I are staying in the Holiday Inn! 8D)
- Call Cindy about the flight cage arrangements
- Call Zoe about AX plans
- Package/send everything
- Transfer Paypal money to bank account
- Call Nancy about the robin
- Send in donation money for WR&R
- Give grosbeak and mystery bird antibiotics
- Rewatch episode five of Honey & Clover

And the usual, hopeful watch anime and draw.

So much love for Neko Nikki~ It's so adorable! Gah, I just want to hug Ranka and be her cool onee-chan or something. >___>;
