Jun. 23rd, 2008 01:42 amThis morning, the first thing I realized when I woke up is that I forgot to write about the crazy weather yesterday.
So, yesterday in addition to all the bird madness, there was thunderstorm! With blue skies! It looked and felt like a perfect summer day, with peaceful cumulus clouds drifting across the blue, but then there was a bunch of thunder and scattered rain. While the sky was still blue and the cumulus clouds were still drifting lazily over. It was very strange and cool. I took some pictures, but I need to go to bed soon so I don't have time to upload them.
Also, lightning apparently struck about a mile from our house, which caused a fire up the road. Dad, Ryan, and I went on an expedition to see the fire, but all we got to see in the end was the smoke and all the firetrucks. Apparently it wasn't that big of a deal, as we never heard anything else about it. There were a lot of firetrucks, though.
Today I got another cowbird from Deb, which is exciting! Especially because she's had this cowbird for a year (he couldn't be released because the other cowbirds migrated) and cowbirds are unusual to get in our area. I've never heard of anyone having one in the three years I've been rehabbing, anyway. Deb also brought over a HUGE cage I'm borrowing, so the two cowbirds and the towhee are in it currently. The new cowbird likes to sing the most beautiful songs and bully the towhee by jumping on him and biting at his feathers. Hopefully they'll resolve their argument tomorrow, otherwise they'll have to be separated.
I also got a nestling robin to go with my fledgling robin. The nestling is at least four or five days younger than the fledgling, but I give it three days before the nestling one is out of the nest keeping the fledgling company.
Of course, I also still have the adult grosbeak (who made it through the night and is much more spirited now) and the fledgling jay. The jay is probably going to Janey tomorrow, though, as she has other jays and he'll feel more at ease with others of his kind. As it is, he's hardly eating at all.
I finished Kure-nai today! I thought it was a very good series overall. Not a breathtaking masterpiece or anything, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The very last few scenes were so sweet, awwww, though I can't say I was extremely impressed with last few episodes overall. Anyway, it wasn't something super-memorable or anything, but I don't regret watching it. It was nice to have so many interesting female characters and the series overall had a different tone and subject matter than I expect from your average anime. Not a lot more I can say on it, really. It was sweet. Not incredible, but definitely sweet and enjoyable, with strong characters that held the series together.I do wonder what happened with the love rivalry for Shinkurou, though. :/ I was hoping that would be concluded or alluded to. Why am I suddenly such a sucker for love triangles? I normally dislike them. D:
I also caught up on Kaiba, but I honestly can't say my reaction because my brother and dad came in the room partway through and started making dumb comments about it/telling me to turn it off. ("It looks like Yellow Submarine! That guy looks like Homer Simpson! *Imitates character laughing*) There's a reason why I try not to watch Kaiba when they're around. :/ So basically I missed most of what happened in episode seven because they were being distracting. And for some reason I can't remember how episode five ended, though I clearly remember episode six. Sounds like I need to rewatch at least seven and skim over five at least.
I might have time to catch up on Toshokan Sensou and watch some other things tomorrow. Hopefully. :D
I'm on call on Tuesday and Thursday this week, so I hope I don't end up swamped with birds. Especially because I'm leaving next Tuesday night for Anime Expo. :O I can't believe it's coming up so fast! I hope my zukan get here within the next one or two days so I can sell them to earn more money for AX. ;__; As it is I hardly have any money at all, so it's important that I sell things and have enough time to transfer the money to my bank account before AX.
Also, I must:
-Rewatch the beginning of Honey & Clover for
hc_rewatch, write summary/thoughts on episode four by the end of the day tomorrow
- Send packages within one or two days
-Do a sales post SOON when zukan arrive
- Call Zoe about AX within the next few days
- Start calling around for a birdsitter?
-Get the jay to Janey :(
- Call Tracey and Deb about the cowbirds and towhee going to the flight cage
-Give the grosbeak his antibiotics at 11 AM
...I think that's all. I hope. @__@
I would also like to:
- Draw something pretty/practice drawing on the computer
- Watch more anime
So much to do. @___@ I guess I'd better go to bed.
