Jun. 6th, 2008 09:37 pmWatched two things today: Macross Frontier episode ten and Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.
First off, I was randomly under the impression that Macross Frontier was only going to be thirteen episodes. Not sure where I got this idea, but I was quite sure of it. Today I discovered it is, in fact, going to be twenty-five episodes, which makes me rather happy. Not only because yay for more Macross Frontier fun/Yoko Kanno music, but also because I was confused about how the series would wrap itself up satisfactorily in three episodes. (Not to mention I love the characters (especially Ranka ♥), so I would miss them.)
Awww, this episode was so adorable! It made me all warm and fuzzy. I found it funny that they were creating a movie of the events of Macross Zero. I've only seen a little bit of Macross Zero (though now I want to see the rest of it), but in the episode trailer I said to Nicole "Hey, it looks like the island in Macross Zero!" so I felt clever when it was the same place. XD
The whole thing with the flying lion thing was a bit...uhhh...but I absolutely loved the rest of the episode. The scene with Ranka on Alto's back was sooo cute. I'm still not a big fan of Alto (I don't hate him either, though, I just find him a little irritating. This could change in the course of the series, though), but Rankaaaa. ♥ The end of the episode with Ranka going up on the stage made me smile for like five minutes straight.
I could ramble on and on for ages, but the point is AWWWW, THIS EPISODE WAS SO CUTE! It's not like it was super amazing or anything, it was kind of silly, and it was rather sudden, but jsdlajd adorable. ♥_♥
It's kind of worrisome to me how fangirly I'm getting about this series, haha, when I'll be one of the first to say it's not particularly original or deep. It's just so pretty and entertaining! Oh well. XD
Ah, I loved Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo! I don't think it can beat Millennium Actress as my favorite anime film (I can't decide whether this includes Ghibli films or not), but I enjoyed it a lot. The backgrounds were so detailed and gorgeous, and I loved Sadamoto's character designs. The animation was beautiful, and I loved the simple beauty of the art. It looked so cleanly drawn/animated! The characters had such realistic personalities and reactions to things, so it was easy to sympathize with them. Makoto is a wonderful character who feels like someone you could meet in real life.
I ended it with quite a few questions, though. Hopefully a couple of rewatches and some discussions with those of you who have seen it will clear some up. That was my main (albeit still small) complaint with the movie; it left several things fairly unclear. Or perhaps I just wasn't observant enough. ^^; Anyway, it was a really wonderful movie and I'm glad to have finally seen it. It was beautiful and moving and very well-written. :D Such an amazing story, and it was wonderfully executed.
Songbird Rehab Training II is tomorrow! I'm teaching part of it, so I'd better get working on that. Especially because I haven't even started my part, and the class is at 1 PM tomorrow. :O It'll be fine, though; I know my stuff. I'm also bringing along three chickens for Dr. Lund to demonstrate wing wraps on. Hopefully they'll behave themselves. XD
I moved the adult jay with the spine injury into a basket because I think the cage was stressing him out too much. :/ I hope he'll be okay and eat sufficiently in the basket. He doesn't seem like he's moved much at all since I moved him into the basket. But then again, I don't look at him much to avoid stress. I also moved the six little birds into a basket, and it's fun to watch them in it because there's a lot of room, several perches to choose from, a clump of dried grass to hide in, and food and water (which they have yet to touch, but one of these days...). Several of them are just hanging out on the ground, but the two mystery birds are having a ball on the perches. It won't be long before the others are doing the same.
Daniell is having a party tomorrow, too, so tomorrow promises to be quite busy. I'm going from the class to the party, and then home (probably at 10 PM or so).
MUST WATCH KAIBA SOON
And everyone needs to stop recommending anime/manga/books to me, haha. The list keeps growing and growing and growing and growing and next thing you know it's going to be the biggest most unmanageable list ever. Nah, I'm kidding. You can keep recommending things. I just don't necessarily have time to watch/read them all within a reasonable time frame.
