Dec. 15th, 2007 11:20 pmLast night was so awful. First I had that terrible, terrible stomach pain for about an hour, and then I started shaking extremely badly and vomited up what had to be the entire contents of my stomach. I was up and down feeling horrible until 5 AM. Luckily, I somehow managed to fall asleep after that, and besides being exhausted, I've felt fairly okay all day.
I've been marathoning Gurren Lagann all day, actually. Finally! I've felt so left out of anime fandom in general as a result of having not seen it, and it feels good to finally see what all the fuss is about. I'm on episode fifteen, though I'm just about to start sixteen.
Damn, this show is crazy. XD It's so over-the-top, but somehow, it has gotten so over-the-top that it's no longer over-the-top and is just EPIC. I don't know how good it actually is, objectively, but it's incredibly entertaining and heartfelt and just... I think EPIC is the best way to describe it. I've never really seen anything like it.
I know I like it a lot, but I'm having a hard time deciding just how much I like it at this point. One moment I'll be thinking it's a little bit overrated, and other moments I'll just be like "HELL YES!" I think I'm going to have to reserve an overall judgment of exactly how good I think it is for when I've seen the ending, though as of right now I'm leaning towards it being pretty awesome. 8D
I like most of the characters, though I must say my favorites are Simon, Kamina, and Yoko (I don't normally like the really fanservicey characters, but somehow she manages to be a pretty genuine character). My only peeve is that...I'm having a bit of a hard time liking Nia. I feel bad about it because I'm not normally one to dislike main characters, but... :/ I'm hoping she'll change my mind. I think she might, because I am warming up to her a little bit.
Anyway, yes! I'm enjoying it a lot. It's such a bizarre series, but it's addictive and...if it makes sense, it's inspiring by sheer force. XD The action scenes are so crazy. We'll see how the rest of the series goes.
