Today has been busy and now I'm tired!
Went to work as usual, and set up for the tabling at the Green Life Eco Fest that I'm going to be doing. I had all these adopters to call but I didn't even get a chance because there were so many things going on! After gathering all of the necessary materials, I went in one of the sanctuary's vehicles to the fairgrounds and actually set up the booth (with the help of the nice ladies in the neighboring booth). Then back to the sanctuary to retrieve my own car, and off to the Wildlife Rehab intake center for volunteering on Fridays like usual. Had to stop at Taco Bell on the way because I hadn't eaten anything all day.
The intake center wasn't as busy as Tuesday, but it wasn't dead, either. Linda left early with her five opossum babies because she hadn't slept much, and it's a good thing she did because her dog got bitten by a rattlesnake at home! ;; Before she left we got in a fledgling steller's jay. Poor baby, his crop had been ripped completely wide open by a cat and it had been that way for a few days. He was terribly dehydrated and thin as well, and clearly in pain. Probably overtaken by cat scratch fever as well. Even with sutures, there was no way to close the crop back up. He had bruising on his neck as well. There was just no way to treat this reasonably, so we both agreed to put him down. Never a happy decision, but there was no doubt in this case. We did, and then examined him farther and determined it was 100% the right decision. The bird was in awful condition.
After Linda left, I went to pick up a fledgling blackbird at a nursing home. The poor blackbird had suffered some unknown injury and had the worst case of air sac ruptures that I have ever seen. He literally looked like he was two or three times his actual size because he was so ballooned up. I got him back to the center and proceeded to prod him extensively with needles, sucking the air out of the air sacs. I finally got him down to a normal size, though the skin where the air sacs had been was all stretched out, and then I hydrated him and he ate around ten mealworms.
I brought him to Jan and then headed home, only to immediately get a call on a gosling. Unfortunately the people could not catch the gosling, and by the sound of it I could not have caught the gosling either, so I could not help. Then I got a call from one of the volunteers tomorrow for the tabling event, and then Mom got home and was all grouchy and getting pissed off at me. We took the dogs for a walk, now she went to bed.
Busy day, yep. Now I'm almost halfway through Gunbuster and I'm hoping to finish it before I go to bed, maybe. But I still have to go on Dreamworld tonight, and I need to take a shower, too, but I really want to finish it... Hahaha, so much going on!
The next two days I'm tabling at this festival for work and will probably be doing that for more hours than I'm paid for (not that I mind, it should be fun), and I really should at least start on packaging (hopefully, if I get time), and I have one more commission to finish (and three to scan and PM the person), and I want to watch some anime during my downtime, and I have to repair my cosplay before Fanime, and I have to clean out my car, and take care of all of my animals as usual, and Mom wants me to clean the house, and the list goes on. I only have Monday off this week and then I'm working Tuesday through Thursday and then Fanime. Must try to get as much done as possible between now and then without stressing!
