pacificpikachu: (Frogmouth Baby -- Foot Up!)
Today was fun! Mom and I went with mom's friend Maria to look at rescued baby horses from feedlots. (Feedlots = where they go to fatten up before the slaughterhouses in Canada and Mexico. D:) The baby horses were so sweet and gorgeous and wonderful, ahhh! I fell for this yearling chestnut appendix quarter horse colt named Carson. He was just a total puppy dog and very mellow. He kept coming and putting his nose on my shoulder and wuffling, and we lead him around and petted him a bunch. I felt an instant connection with him for some reason. I wish I could talk mom into adopting him because she liked him, too, but she's determined not to get another chestnut after Penny, who died very suddenly and traumatically. I'm honestly not that much of a horse person (in the sense that I don't like riding much and horses are a lot of work/expensive, but I like horses themselves quite a bit) so that's not going to happen. :( Oh well, he's in a good place and he'll find a good home. I really liked him, though, I wouldn't mind having him at all.

Mom's friend Maria fell in love with a little paint colt named Sunny and is most likely going to adopt him. I worry just a little because the last horse she fell in love with and adopted (who I liked very much) didn't work out and had to go back to the rescue, and I just hope she's not making an impulsive decision again. She is a nice person, absolutely adores animals, and will treat any horse she gets extremely well, but I just hope she's really thinking this through with her mind and not just her heart. Sunny seems sweet, though, and not like he'll be too energetic/feisty/flighty for her, so I'm hoping for the best outcome. I just wonder if she should go for a draft horse instead because she loves draft horses the most and Sunny is not a draft, but this is her decision.

Oh man, this awesome cowboy guy who breaks up herds of wild horses so the BLM can't shoot them from helicopters showed up at the stables before we were going to leave, and he had the most beautiful friesian/mustang gelding, ahhhhhh~! *A* He was one of the more magnificent horses I've seen, and could bow and shake, too, haha. I stared at that horse for like twenty minutes and took pictures, too. He was incredible~

I've won a few auctions recently, most exciting being this ADORABLE Ash/Pikachu cel! Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] omgitslph for pointing it out to me, I really appreciate it. ♥

It comes with the sketch, too! :D (Anyone happen to remember which episode this might be from? I'm sure I'll figure it out but at the moment I'm not sure! Looks fairly early in the series to me based off the style of Pikachu~)

I'm having a member from the BackYardChickens forum who lives only about ten minutes away over tomorrow to talk chickens and show off my birds! She's bringing me three hens, too. ^^;; (Yeah, I couldn't resist!) It'll be nice to talk to someone who's really into chickens, too, and I love to show off my wonderful flock. I'm excited to meet her, she seems so nice. :)
