Jul. 27th, 2010 12:19 amIt's midnight right now, and of course it's at this time that I suddenly have the inspiration (?) to reorganize the quail pen and look for other cages/pens/set-ups I could put them in. The seven of them have honestly been fine in the cage they're in and they seem quite happy, but again the quest to give my animals more room to roam and enjoy themselves raises its head. Also, I should probably officially determine what the gender ratio is now that the quail are old enough to tell for certain! I should take pictures of the quail, they're cute. :D They're easy to handle and nice little birds, and super simple to care for. I would name them but I can't tell six of the seven apart. :( The only distinct one is my tibetan, who is really pretty.
Ilikeayou did pass away quietly this afternoon. RIP, Ilikeayou. I'll miss you, but I am glad I was able to give you a long and happy life! The last of Pidgeotto's descendants is now gone. :( I've still got three birds that are around eleven years old--The Salula, Storm, and Tsunami. The Salula has been thin for a while as I've said, and she is strange-looking and bald, but at least her energy is good! She is lively still. Storm and Tsunami...you would have no idea of their age if you looked at them. Storm is really feisty and energetic (and is determined to hatch chicks lately, haha) and Tsunami just looks like she's young. I think my two standard silver phoenix hens, Silver and Sterling, are around nine as well, and they're doing great.
Off to go bother the quail even though they're sleeping at this time!
