I candled to check on my eggs yesterday and didn't see movement, so today I decided to open them up and see if anyone was alive in there. Nope, all dead. :( I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it's possible I kept the humidity too high and put them in lockdown too soon (expecting a nineteen day hatch). Oh well, I've been kind of expecting that for a few days. It's disappointing, especially after seeing those little toes moving up against the eggshell, but, well, things happen. It's just part of hatching. I really want a successful hatch, but if I keep trying I know I'll get that. I have a good incubator, good fertility, it's just a matter of getting the humidity and everything right and having good luck.

Next hopeful hatch is call ducks, which I'll likely set on Monday. I have five eggs so far, and ought to have six or seven by then. I'm going to have to do a lot of research on hatching call ducks, as they're notoriously hard to hatch. Probably a bad idea to try to hatch them when I've had bad luck so far, but I can't help but try! If I get one or two ducklings out of it, it'll be so worth it, and if not, hey, I'm learning.

I bought myself a Japanese bantam chick at the feed store yesterday! She's very cute, white with black spots. I named her Poppy. :D She's in with The Salula and Minky because they wouldn't hurt a fly. I'll post pictures of her tomorrow!

Now it's time to go to the wildlife rehab new volunteer party thing, and then after that hang out with friends for my birthday! :D Tomorrow morning, it's down to Roseville for HG/SS! I'm bringing my Umbreon costume, LOL.
