Hiii f-list! I am, in fact, still alive, and for some reason it slips my mind that I do, in fact, actually have to write in my LJ in order for people to know what I'm up to. As opposed to--oh, I don't know--people just telepathically knowing or something.

Let's see... I spent the last five days up in Tahoe at our family reunion. Family reunions are typically considered unpleasant things, but in fact my extended family is quite nice and enjoyable to be around so I have a good time. We did lots of swimming (in Lake Tahoe, Angora Lake, and the swimming pool/hot tub), getting frozen yogurt, hiking, playing card games, and plenty of other things. Some of my extended family is extremely religious so censoring my loudly liberal self can be challenging, but other than that I tend to have a great time with them. Though I do have weird fantasies about getting my cousins into various violent and upsetting anime series, LOLWHUT.

Now I'm back home, working in the wildlife rehab center for the next few days, and then taking off for Tahoe again on Saturday! Not for family reunion this time, just with my mom, brother, and brother's friend Jake, as well as the three dogs. I was planning on Daniell coming, but she canceled. :( Instead, I'm probably just going to hang out with Honey and go visit Tahoe Wildlife's rehab center. If there's anyone in California who wants to come to Tahoe, anyone is welcome! Lodging is free, there are plenty of beds, and all you'd need is some food money. I'd rather have company, so seriously...if you can come, please let me know! That includes you Bay Area people or whatever!

Today was really nice despite the heat. I got up at about 11 AM and took Honey for a walk down to Pioneer Park, which is maybe a mile away. She got fairly hot but trotted along happily and was remarkably good on the leash even with cars rushing by. She went in the creek without much coaxing to cool off, but didn't quite understand the concept of drinking the creek water, haha. She lapped at it a little after I tried to get her to for about fifteen minutes, but I guess I'll just have to teach her at Tahoe. On the way back up the hill home, dad and Ryan happened across me (they were in my car) and picked me up, so that saved Honey and I some unwanted walking uphill in the heat.

Then I took a shower and went to the wildlife center. I examined a jay with a badly broken leg for Jan and gave her my opinion on it, and then Jan took off not too long after that...along with all the birds in the center. XD This left Annette, Christian, and I with an empty center, so we just cleaned and talked most of the shift. We disinfected the counters, dishes, and some cages, I swept, Annette vacuumed, and the center was essentially spotless when I left. :D Annette and I talked about overpopulation, meat consumption, psychology, and other such topics for a while, which was nice. I also created an Events board and put up a new bulletin board in the office.

I was sad that the quail from last week didn't make it (I bought a chick to be its friend after it came in, and that chick was then adopted by Linda), and we lost a baby robin from last week and an adult hummingbird with a broken wing today. But, on the more positive side, it turns out the jay that we thought had wet avian pox actually has the dry form and is therefore treatable, and the grosbeak that crashed into a window last week is being released tomorrow!

After I closed up the center, I headed over to downtown Nevada City and went to the street fair with Honey. I took her last week as well and she was a bit afraid, but this time she was more bold and happy and much less shy. Partly because I brought a bunch of treats along with me, haha. Doesn't take much to win her over. It's funny how going in public with a corgi gets you automatic attention. They seem to be a very well-loved breed by the general populous. I had a snow cone and a delicious peach crepe, wandered around for a while saying hello to people I know, talked to a woman about dogs for a while when I sat down to eat my crepe, and generally had a good time.

Hmmm, I suppose that's about it for now. I mean, not really as there's much I need to post and talk about, but I have plenty I'd like to do before bed so it'll have to wait for now.

I'll try to update more if I'm not too busy! I miss being so active on LJ a bit, but things are nice and busy here so I'm trying to prioritize real life and enjoy my summer by going out and doing things.

Must upload Yoko Kanno concert for all of you! I've been listening to it more-or-less constantly, ahhh. Happy, awesome, amazing memories. *____*
