pacificpikachu: (Looking to the Sky)
I am so amused that the new Haruhi theme is so reminiscent of Skittles! (If you haven't seen that AMV, see it NOW! The song is annoying at first, but it's an amazing AMV and by my favorite editor of all time.) It's so similar in style that it makes me really wonder if the animators or art director or someone saw the AMV and was inspired by it. Otherwise, it's a pretty odd coincidence how stylistically similar they are. I really suspect there was some Skittles viewing involved, though. It's just too weird otherwise.

Aughhh I've been so busy lately! Not that this is bad, as fundraising for my trip is actually going reasonably well! I was doing some number crunching based off the work I've done so far and contributions from my family, and I think it's definitely going to work out. It'll be more hard work and flailing and chaos for the next few weeks, of course, but the point is it will almost certainly work out. Went through my collection and weeded a bit today, and I reeeally need to get working on packaging so I don't feel guilty posting another sales post. e__e;

Depending on how things go, I may hold a garage sale tomorrow (Saturday). This depends on if I can get everything together in time. Otherwise it'll have to be next Saturday or something I suppose.

Dude, the autobiography job is AWESOME. I got lost on the way there the first time but managed to find my way, and when I pulled up the guy saw my bumper sticker ("The #1 Pollution Solution: Birth Control") and went "Oh, do you know Ted? I have the same bumper sticker on my car!"

Ted is the guy I got the bumper stickers from several months ago--if anyone remembers, it was the funny coincidence story of how I googled "Overpopulation bumper stickers" and the first link was to this guy's site where you can get free overpopulation bumper stickers. I checked the address and it turned out it was literally right down the street. O__o;

ANYWAY, the coincidence continues! It turns out the guy I'm helping did a radio show on overpopulation with Ted for ten entire years and part of the reason he's writing the autobiography in the first place is to spread the word on overpopulation as well as recount his life story. So in other words, he and I have essentially exactly the same unpopular views about human population, and he spends much of the book talking about this, so it's basically the most awesome thing ever and I agree with all of it. :O On top of that, his stories are seriously incredible and fascinating--he's been all over the world traveling his whole life, and supporting himself while traveling primarily through "busking" (playing guitar in public and passing around the hat), and just...it's incredible how many adventures he's been through. Gahhh, I love this job so much! I just sit and type while he reads the handwritten story aloud, and part of the story was typed up once (but needing corrections) so I can work at home part of the time just typing the story (and reading it at the same time). I hope he gets it published or lets me upload it or something so you guys can read it. Best job ever or BEST JOB EVER? I can't believe I'm getting paid to read and type an incredible story that is going on about a centrally important issue and concern in my life.

The beginning of Wednesday was the most stressful day ever. :( First the chickadee was killed, and then I headed down to Sacramento although I was on call for my wildlife rehab group and then kept trying to call me but I couldn't answer the phone because I was driving. I was also supposed to call a lady about watching her dogs that night at my house, which isn't feasible because apparently her dogs are dog aggressive and I always have Honey with me, but I really intended to call her. On the way there, I felt so awful about what had happened to the chickadee that I just broke down crying and cried pretty much the whole way there. I got a little lost but managed to right myself, and then got to the house of the lady where I would be listing her items on Ebay.

Right after I got there, my cell phone kept ringing and ringing because I was on call for wildlife rehab as previously stated, and the guy who is this woman's assistant was being really strict and harsh and scary about everything. (When the phone rang the FIRST time, he went "Is it going to keep doing that?" in a concerned/annoyed voice.) I called Jan in a panic and asked if she could take over my calls. She is an incredible person, that Jan, and agreed to. I thanked her profusely. I then got lectured by the assistant man about how specific and detailed the Ebay listings needed to be (with no indication of how to find out the necessary specific information on these random, obscure antiques), was reprimanded for talking to one of the other girls working there for like...one minute WHILE I was still working during the conversation, and he kept asking me how many listings I had done while saying things like "You only have that many done? What's taking so long?"

I was so intimidated. :( I was seriously thinking for the first four hours or so about how there was no way I would come back there and how miserable I was feeling. Oddly enough, after that the guy mellowed out and started being nice, and the lady I was listing the items for woke up and we talked in a friendly manner and basically I changed my mind and decided it wasn't so bad after all. Sure, the guy is still a bit intimidating and it's still very specific, hard work where it can be confusing, but things improved quite a bit in the second half of my time there. I'm going back in the morning and working until 6 PM probably, which will make me another $80 or so towards my trip.

I'm reluctantly cutting back on rehabbing for the next few weeks as a necessary sacrifice to Yoko Kanno, but I'm still taking gamebirds (quail, turkeys, pheasant, those sorts of things) and self-feeding birds. I got in an adult quail today with head trauma. There's definitely issues with this guy as he is showing all the classic head trauma symptoms, but even considering that, he's quite strong and tries to fight me so I have a good feeling about him. Fighters tend to make it. ♥ If he makes it and recovers well enough, he's going to be a foster parent/guardian to my two baby quail I have (which are already about three times the size they were when I took them in). He's a gorgeous bird and I hope he'll be able to pull through.

Well, I would go on more but I need to get to bed. Just had to update on everything going on a bit!
