Blah blah blah ANIMALS blah blah.
May. 7th, 2009 10:54 pmSTILL need to get pictures of Honey. orz I'll do that tomorrow! Though pictures of Hooch and Hana will have to wait because I'm currently at my dad's with just Honey.
Anyway, she and Hooch are doing great and they're wonderful little dogs! Honey is really sweet and sits next to me on the couch, sleeps right next to me at night (Hooch sleeps by my feet), and both corgis follow me everywhere. XD I love them. ♥ All three of my dogs have distinct, hilarious personalities. Hana is hyperactive, talkative, athletic, demanding, and absolutely obsessive with her toys. Hooch is a clown who likes to wiggle a lot and give kisses, loves to fetch, and he's pretty easygoing. Honey basically just wants to cuddle and be bathed in attention and gets a tiny bit jealous of the other dogs if you're focusing on them, and she howls when she wants to be loved and rolls over on her stomach for a belly rub at every opportunity. The only thing the three of them have in common is that they all LOVE people.
Regarding Bob and her feline leukemia virus, she is thankfully not in the persistent phase that would require us to put her down. We're going to be looking into finding her a home soon, because she needs to be kept away from other cats for the next three months because there's a possibility her body can fight the virus off, and she'll be retested in three months to see if her status has changed. I wish we could just isolate her ourselves, but unfortunately with all of our animals that's not an option. She's in the garage now but soon it'll be too hot in there for her to live comfortably. Anyway, I'm glad we don't have to put her down and I just hope we can find a place for her... It would be a shame for her to have to live in the garage for three months.I'm almost tempted to ask my dad if we could keep her there but I KNOW what that answer would be so it's not even worth asking. :x
I'm officially out of classes for the next several months! Time to recuperate, hopefully get back on my feet as far as getting my energy and motivation back up (now that I'm on an anti-depressant this will hopefully be possible), and work with animal rescue stuff as usual!
Speaking of animal rescue (this is what my life revolves around, in case anyone didn't notice), I got in my first baby birds yesterday! The first one was a pinkie...something. I need to consult my chart as to what it is because with pinkies it can be hard to tell at times and this was the epitome of generic pinkie. Anyway, it had been carried around by a cat and when I got it I noticed puncture wounds in its abdomen, it was gasping for breath, and it was freezing cold. I stuck it in my bra (...I know this sounds weird, but it's a good way to keep them warm if all else fails) for the ride home and it perked up a little, but passed away about two hours later. Oh well. I stuck it in the freezer so I can figure out what it is later.
Then I got a call about a nestling scrub jay, also carried around by a cat. He has a strange sort of...scabbing, almost, but not quite? on his head as well as a swollen eyelid, but feeding energetically and otherwise in fairly good spirits. I wanted to keep him because I love jays, but I brought him over to Janey's because I had to take my art final today and I haven't had time to get my supplies together quite yet. Last I heard he's doing well though I'll find out for sure if he made it on Saturday, when I'm helping paint our wildlife rehab center that our group just obtained about a month ago. :D
I'm also helping Makayla find a kitten (Makayla, I may have found kittens for you! Call me at my dad's tomorrow and I'll give you the number! I can give you a ride out to see them if you want!) so I went by the AnimalSave thrift store twice and the first time ended up talking to the lady in the cat room about a fundraiser AnimalSave is doing in September. I was helping brainstorm events and I gave her my numbers so I can help more soon. :D I was also going to talk to Debra (head of the group/a friend of our family) about finding a home for Bob and spaying Honey, but she was busy or absent both times. While Makayla and I were there, we grabbed a copy of this children's Bible with LOLARIOUS illustrations as well as the first Darwin Awards book. :D Makayla and I also went to some pet stores just for fun.
Thanks to
staraptor's lovely generosity and scraping things together just barely, SMJ stuff is paid off! Now I'm beyond broke but yayyyy! I can't wait to get that massive box--both for personal collection purposes and huge, HUGE sales. Twenty-eight auctions. TWENTY-EIGHT AUCTIONS. They were collected over the last like...several months, though, so it's not as though I'm really just burning through money I don't have. :V Now to just worry about whether SMJ will ship the box in a timely manner... I'm certainly hoping they do, as I made about a thousand notes to ship as soon as possible.
NEED to get working on my costume, AHHH. Next thing I know it'll be Fanime! I haven't even started aside from collecting materials! I still need more materials! Or at least some 1/2" foam to serve as the base for the head! That's my main concern--getting the head done. The rest of the costume will be easy-peasy.
NEED to watch more anime! Have hardly had time foranything besides Pokémon fandom!
Notes to self: Need to ship two packages, work on costume/gathering materials, get rehab supplies together (especially food/antibiotics/cages/first aid stuff) at both houses, painting party on Saturday, Makayla and I are going to dog/cat vaccination clinic Sunday morning, e-mail Debby, e-mail Janey info on scrub jay intake, and clean both rooms. And probably other things as well.
OBLIGATORY: Yayyy G/S remakes! Even though it was extremely predictable that they were going to happen! :D
