CC kitten! :(
May. 6th, 2008 10:46 amOf course, these things only happen very late at night during Finals week...
I took Hana out last night at 12:30 AM, and when we got back she was coughing. Mom and I were afraid she was choking, so we were all worried and doting on her for about twenty minutes. It turned out she was fine, though.
HOWEVER, while I was doing this, I noticed again that I hadn't seen CC (my calico cat) in a while. Last I had seen her (the day before), she was hiding in a weird place under my mom's bed that's sort of inside the bed. She finds weird places to sleep all the time, so I didn't think much of it, but when I checked...she was still there. D:
So I literally had to cut open parts of the box spring and wrangle her to get her out. Even then, she was mad and obviously in pain so, despite trying to get at her for well over an hour, I had to leave her alone until the morning, when I guess she came out on her own.
It turns out she has three or four unpleasant-looking wounds (bite wounds from something, I think, though they don't really look like puncture wounds exactly--like shallow bite wounds) near her jaw, and they've turned into an abscess that's really swollen and huge. I feel so terrible I didn't notice before, but it's not like I had any way of knowing about it with her hiding like that... Poor CC. And now mom is at her horse lesson and I have a test today down in Rocklin, so we need to get her to the vet but of course mom (being the obsessive horse nut she is) is prioritizing the horse lesson over getting her to the vet right away. :( That's where she is now.
She'll probably be just fine, but she definitely needs medical attention. It's obvious poor CC is in pain--she's acting aggressive and sulky and she wouldn't eat or drink. I went over the wounds with some alcohol preps, but obviously CC didn't appreciate it and the blood is all scabbed over now, so I don't think it had much impact.
I'm sure we'll get her to the vet soon, but I'm going to be worrying about her to no end until we do. I wish I knew what happened to her.
