...Man. It's 5 AM. I should not be posting, but...

I woke up about fifteen minutes ago to the sound of a jay squalling and flapping its wings. I keep my birds out on the deck right outside my bedroom window. Normal logic would say, "Oh, there's something wrong--I'd better check." But I was sleeping, so my sleepiness basically said "One of them probably fell off the perch or something." But it didn't stop, so I peeked out the window.

There was a raccoon there. So I yelled at it through the window to scare it off, and it saw me and ran away.

But I went out there, and one of my little jays had been pulled through part of the cage by his wings and had his head gnawed off. :(

I feel so bad about it... I know it's not technically my fault, and this happens in nature all the time, and even if I had woken up earlier he still probably would have been doomed, but still... Poor little jay. He was so healthy and happy. It was really disturbing to find him like that.

With some difficulty, I pulled him out of the cage to dispose of his body. Then I promptly moved the remaining jays and crow into the sun room.

Needless to say, I'm having some trouble getting back to sleep now. This is made doubly difficult because my arm still hurts like crazy.

*Sigh* Rest in peace, little jay. I'm so sorry I couldn't save you.

Wow, how clever.

I just got an e-mail with a subject of 'v'.

In the body of the e-mail, guess what it said.

'v'

Nothing more, nothing less. I'm truly astounded.

Also, I just now realized I never posted this, so I shall inflict it upon all of you now except Zoe, because she's already seen it about five hundred times.

I NOW PRESENT...ONE OF MY FAVORITE YOUTUBE VIDEOS EVAR. It's a little slow at first, but keep watching. It's very special. XD I've watched it so many times, I'm not even going to admit to it. Only Zoe knows. It still cracks me up, somehow.

*Sigh* Still a bit upset about the jay. It probably doesn't help that I only had about four or five hours of sleep. :/ My other young jay, who was right next to the dead one, seems a little...off...for some reason, too, so I gave him some antibiotics just in case. He's missing a tiny bit of fluff, his balance and wings seem subtly odd, and he has what could *possibly* be a very tiny puncture wound on his stomach. It's not much to worry about, I know, but sometimes the smallest hints can be indicative of big problems. I'm hoping I don't wake up to another dead bird tomorrow.

The arm is feeling a little better. I'm being careful to rest it.

I don't have an angry icon, because I'm not angry very often at all.

But the guy who I bought the Pikachu DS from is now PMing me saying things like "Uh, oops. We're not sure if we can get the Pikachu DS now. Refund?" even though they guaranteed on their page that they'd absolutely get the product for me.

D:< Soooo mad. I'm having them hold the order for me in vain hopes that they still get it... I really can't pay $300+ for it, which is what it's going for on Ebay now. *Weeps*
