Thanksgiving events
Nov. 23rd, 2006 11:22 pmToday was a relatively simple and ordinary, but fun nonetheless, Thanksgiving. :)
I slept surprisingly well last night despite the fact that I was upset about Lily yet again at about 1 AM and did a lot of crying. ;_; I slept in until about about 10 AM, and we left for Marin at around noon. On the way, we stopped at Starbucks and I had a delicious chai frappucino. The ride down was so much fun--despite (or perhaps due to?) the fact that it ended up being a four-hour drive due to lots and lots of congested traffic. We listened to Cowboy Bebop OSTs almost the whole way down, which was SO MUCH FUN and so wonderful. It made me want to watch Cowboy Bebop again, even though I promised myself I won't for a while because I want to appreciate it anew when I do watch it again (meaning I should leave a nice, big timegap). We stopped listening to Cowboy Bebop for a little while to listen to some Naruto themes at Ryan's request, and we listened to Genesis of Aquarion after that.
Also, on the way there we saw SO MANY hawks. I saw five or six white-tailed kites hovering and catching prey, a big red-tailed hawk dancing around in a field catching what I assume was a snake, two kestrels, and two or three huge hawks I couldn't identify. There were also a number of egrets, two great blue herons,
While we were at Grandma Doe's house, not a great deal happened. I fiddled around on my laptop for a while for no reason, and then the rest of the time was spent hanging around in the basement with Jordan and Chris. There was lots of guitar playing, games involving the various strange exercise contraptions lying about, and foot massages with the vibrating foot massage thing. XD;; Later in the evening, we discovered one of those things that you can use to suck air out of bags and then seal them, and I was determined to cause mischief with it.
So, we spent a long time on a "secret mission" to capture a whole bunch of ice from the kitchen without the adults discovering our plan. We did eventually manage it, and we sealed the ice in the bag. I have it with me now and I'm still waiting for it to melt all the way so I can have an awesome sealed bag of water. XD;;
Dinner was less eventful than usual because apparently the adults figured out that I'm evil and enjoy doing strange things and removed the candles and doilies from the table. (Last year, I lit a doily on fire just for the fun of it, in addition to other such ridiculousness.) I poured the juice from my fruit cocktail into my soda (yuck, soda) and made what tasted like yummy carbonated juice, made a sculpture of a pig out of the excess mashed potatoes, and had a number of strange conversations with my cousins. Great fun. XD;;
After some chocolate pie, Dad came and told us it was time to leave.
Initially, Dad was determined to listen to his music on the ride back, but I somehow ended up with control of the CD player and we listened to Yoko Kanno (Arjuna, Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Maaya Sakamoto, RahXephon, Turn A Gundam) the whole ride back. :D
That's all, I think.
