Whaaat? October already?!
Oct. 1st, 2006 10:03 pmToday. Er. Let's see... I'm kind of in a hurry because I want to start designing some cosplay stuff, so I'll just write a short entry.
I woke up at 9 AM to greet our new petsitters and introduce them to the animals. They were obviously a little...uh, confused as we kept showing them more and more and more animals, but they're up for the job so they should do fine.
I spent the first few hours of my day lounging around, saving pictures of random things, reading up on
campfuckudie, and watching Chapter F of Honey & Clover. It was hilarious. X3
After my long while of sitting around, I went with Mom to a party for her friend's husband, who turned 58 today, and sadly was diagnosed with liver cancer. He has six months to live. :( Despite that, the party was very festive and had good food and wonderful stories, and the guy was really nice. I'd never met him before, but he seemed like a great guy. We didn't stay long because we didn't really know anyone at the party, but it was nice while it lasted. Got me philosophizing about life and death, too.
We had some Chinese food for dinner, I got myself ALL HYPED UP about cosplay again (this always seems to happen in October for some reason I can't pinpoint) looking at costumes at cosplaylab.com, put the guinea pigs out, put the ducks and pheasants to bed, etc.
Oh, and tried to brush Princess.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS. She's normally a sweet and docile puffball type of cat. However, even before you begin to brush her, she turns into a feral beast who needs to be exorcised. This is the same for whenever we need to vaccinate her or clip her nails. She hisses, yells like she's being murdered, bites, scratches, puffs up to twice her normal size, flails, yowls, and struggles as if her very life is in the balance. I spent a good forty-five minutes trying to combat her wildbeast!skills, and she kept escaping. Finally, I cut a few of the mats on her size off of her, and managed to brush her decently. She then retreated to sulk.
I spent a while cleaning my room, helping Mom put up pictures in the house, and now here I am listening to AIR music and hoping to get to work designing my costume.
By the way, I have pretty much officially decided I want to be Teto from Nausicaa this year. I considered doing Pen Pen for a while (mostly for the attention, I admit XD;;;), but in the end, I think Teto is going to be a difficult, rewarding, fun, recognizable, and extremely unusual costume. My only regrets with the costume are that the fur is going to be really hard to find, and unless I convince a friend to be Nausicaa, I'm not going to have anyone to do theme-cosplay with. :( I'm looking forward to starting my costume, though! I hope it's up on par with that Ohmu I saw one year at Fanime. That thing was awesome. XD;
