Yeah, today was pretty crazy. Maybe less crazy than yesterday, during which I was almost losing my mind (I forgot to mention how incredibly stressful yesterday was, didn't I?), but still really, really crazy.

I went to bed quite late last night, and then had trouble sleeping because I felt so bad about the pinkie bird situation. :( The bird died anyway, and it probably would have died no matter who took it and no matter what happened communications-wise, but I still felt awful about it. Really, if I were to pin the blame on anyone, though, it was the lady who had the bird because she refused to drive it to anyone.

Anyway. I woke up at about 7:30 AM, feeling a little sick from tiredness, lack of food, and lack of shower. So, I remedied the latter two and hoped the first one would go away as a result. This seemed to work, though I still felt nauseous for about an hour or an hour and a half after I woke up.

I made lots and loooooots of phone calls today--there were some definite communication issues. >.> I got ahold of Lillis pretty much right away and she offered to take the dove. We arranged a meeting place (at the fairgrounds), and that was that. I also got a call from someone in Woodland (an hour away) who had a baby blue heron (!!!). She was going to ask me for the number to the Woodland bird rescue, which I don't have, but she found a place for the heron in Sacramento. I gave her some traveling tips with the bird, and that was that.

Kathy, though, who took the robins and jay, was really hard to get ahold of. This is partially my fault, because I told her Dad and I would drop the little guys off in the evening and we ended up wanting to drop them off around noon, but it was still a little difficult.

I also spent all day trying to call Nicole about paying me back, but it was to no avail. D: Luckily, Dad offered to waive my hotel fee until she pays me back after the convention, but it was still nerve-wracking.

We went to the fairgrounds and waited about ten minutes for Lillis, and then once she did come we talked about birds and fawns for a while. :) She is such a sweet lady. She volunteered to take the little dove even with eight fawns she's taking care of right now. :O

Kathy finally called me back when Dad and I were on our way to pick Ryan up from watching an autopsy over camera (yes, you heard that right--an autopsy. He went to a medical camp, if you're wondering) at the Imaginarium at 3 PM. So, once we picked him up, we headed out to Kathy's.

Man, this was quite the drive. It was about an hour or more round-trip, and it was wayyyy out in the boonies. Dad was upset and ranting the whole way about having to drive so far, causing annoyance from me, Ryan got carsick, and we even got slightly lost at one point and ended up in the driveway of this total jerk. D< Naturally, just because the guy was mad we were on his property (and we left promptly) Ryan freaked out and thought a) we would be arrested, or b) he would hunt us down and kill us.

Um, right.

I went home after dropping the birds off, was amazed that I could actually relax, continued trying to call Nicole unsuccessfully, and then spent at least three hours cleaning my costume. Man, that thing is hard work... It was kind of fun, though, regardless, even if I was rather nervous doing it. I kept thinking I was going to mess up and completely screw the costume over. @_@ It made me feel like such a real cosplayer, though--spending all those hours maintaining my costume. ^_^ The knees were apparently dirty beyond repair (um, perhaps I shouldn't have given two Kibas and two Narutos rides on my back while outdoors), so I used some diluted white paint to at least make them less noticably dirty. This worked reasonably well.

I read on some cosplay tip sites not to use heat in any part of the cleaning process, so I ended up going through all kinds of crazy stuff washing everything and drying everything. I currently have the bodysuit part of the costume hanging on the bird cages in my room. XD;; But the body part migrated from the washing machine, to the deck, to the bathroom, and finally into my room. I tried putting it in the drying machine for about an hour on Air Dry, but that didn't do a lot. :/

Once I finished doing work on my costume and checking on its drying progress every three seconds or so, I cleaned up my room. This was quite entertaining and I almost wish I had more time to do so. XD;;I found all this stuff I had forgotten I have, marvelled at all the lovely anime things I've obtained over the years, and did a lot of switching around. It looks loveleh--I'll have to take a picture one of these days.

At one point, I was a little worried because the fur on the bodysuit looks so messy, but I remedied this by finding a special kind of hairbrush. Now I have way too much fun brushing it and making it pretty. XD;;

Sooo, I'm leaving for Anime Overdose tomorrow morning at about 8:40 AM (we're picking up Zoe at approximately 8:50 AM at Raley's). I'm sure it'll be lots of fun with cosplay, Japantown and dealer's room shopping, socializing, and lots of familiar faces. ^^ I swear, I've been to so many conventions in San Francisco now (at least five or six, I think, maybe even more) I know most of the regular cosplayers there. They're so nice. :D

If anyone needs to reach me, I have a new cell phone and you can call me on it. I should have it on much of the time, so if anyone wants to call and say hello or whatever, feel free. It's free on weekends, anyway. The number is 575-5750 (I know, lucky XD), and anyone who would ever need to call knows the area code.
