Jan. 1st, 2015 01:08 am2014 was a year with pretty major ups and pretty major downs for me.
Quick good/bad list:
The good:
- My Japan trip was truly fun and amazing, and was definitely the best part of my year, and some of the best times of my life, really. I’ll never forget it!
- Pokescans experienced a lot of growth this year—it should be hitting 15,000 followers soon, which is awesome!
- Anime Expo and Fanime were fun! At Anime Expo, I got all the autographs I wanted (including some that were really difficult to get), and then lost them. Luckily someone turned them into Lost and Found, so it ended up being just fine, despite all my panic! I was happy that Sushio remembered who I was and did a quick Mako doodle for me. All the Kill la Kill events were particularly fun. It wasn’t the best year for Fanime, but it was still fun, and I made a lot of money there for my Japan trip!
- ORAS! ORAS has been tons of fun and I love it. I’m looking forward to playing it more when I actually have free time! (Ahh, Pokémon games always come out in the end of the year, when work is busy!)
- I got a lot of awesome things for my collection this year!
- I did get to spend some time with friends, if not as much as I would have liked.
The bad:
- Tosca going missing has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. I’m still massively struggling with it, all the time. Tosca, I hope with all my heart that we meet again in 2015. If not, I was truly, truly happy having you in my life, and I will always miss you.
- Lost a lot of my pets this year again, like last year. Just all sorts of random losses. I had to put down one rooster, Romeo, which was a very hard decision. I lost one of my very favorite chickens, Porcia. I lost a lot of special and wonderful critters this year (more than I expected), and this is always a hard thing…
- I helped a sweet older yellow lab who was hit by a car. This was emotionally exhausting and sad, but I am proud of myself for making the decision to help her and going to the lengths I did. I never did receive an update from her family, but I’m pretty sure she was put down. If she had been my dog, that’s what I would have done.
- Had a major ankle sprain in March, too, which was miserable.
- Of course, there was Ferguson and all the other major social movements this year.
- And I didn’t do NaNoWriMo this year, but it’s okay, I had good reasons.
I hope 2015 has more art, less animal deaths, hopefully a return of Tosca no matter how unlikely that is, Maaya Sakamoto’s FOLLOW ME 20th anniversary concert (feat. Yoko Kanno) in Japan, and… ??? I guess we’ll see what 2015 brings!
I hope you all have a fantastic 2015, with lots of happiness and new experiences. I'm so grateful to know all of you!

Date: 2015-01-17 03:50 am (UTC)I have thousands of pictures from Japan, I just haven't figured out how to post them en masse! Most of the photo hosting sites are a hassle in one way or another, haha. I still may post more pictures from my last trip once I figure out good ways to do it and have more time (I've been almost nonstop busy since December but things should calm down soon), and I'll definitely take more pictures on my next trip!
