Anime Expo!
Jun. 23rd, 2013 12:31 amI had been agonizing about whether I should go to Anime Expo or not because of the costs about a week or two ago, only because Otakon will be expensive (mostly thanks to the high plane ticket costs right now). I decided after some deliberation to go for it. After all, this is my 10th Anime Expo, and I didn't want to miss out. It would suck to be sitting at home, knowing Anime Expo is going on and not being there. I already have the time off from work, too.
Today, things definitely took a turn for the better as far as AX plans go! I found an affordable room with some cool Artist's Alley people, who I'm also going to ride down with because they're semi-nearby. (I am a little sad not to take the train because I love taking the train, but carpooling is way cheaper and easy and it'll be nice to get to know my roommates on the drive.) This alleviated some of my money concerns. It'll still be tight, but not as tight!
Secondly, Makoto Shinkai was announced as a guest today, so that's exciting! While I do have some criticism about his writing, of course I utterly adore the visuals of his movies and find them inspiring and evocative and amazing. He's really a groundbreaking animator. I've been a fan of his for quite a few years now. So, he's someone I'll be happy to meet and get an autograph from!
There are quite a few other guests I'm interested in seeing as well! Though, of course no one compares with Yoko Kanno, haha. I can't even think much about Otakon and Yoko Kanno because I get so KJDSGKJSHGA;KBNHAK;JDGNA;KHNADGLKDNA'KGNANGD about it whenever I think about it for a second. I still haven't watched her little video to Otakon because I know I'm going to freak out. Man, I am insane.
ANYWAY, back on subject, AX should be lots of fun! I'm excited! I need to watch some of Yuasa's work before I go, but I keep playing Animal Crossing and half-watching things on Netflix instead.
